Bluedell 5,713
It seems that a majority of Scots are against the idea of a British u23 team entering the Olympics. The main reason given for this opposition is that it will lead to the Scottish national team being done away totally with a GB team being intorduced. Can anyone explain why that would be the case? Why would a u23 team GB make any difference? Surely if FIFA (or UEFA) want to do it, they can? Why do they have any more chance of changing things because of this? Either they have the power or the votes to change it or they don't. Or is the real reason that most of these people are just anti-English bigots and are using this as an excuse? CammyF 8,565
It wouldn't and FIFA have already said this. Scotland is part of Team GB anyway at the Olympics. Therefore the football team would be the same as the hockey team, the swimming team, the track and field team, the cycling team et al. They would represent GB at Olympic level and Scotland at all other levels. Cammy F - Support Team GB Loyal RSC

The problem is that we know Fifa want to have just one U.K. voting voice, and we can't trust them - look at Blatter's recent comments to an SFA official. And I don't think Gordon Smith would oppose it just to be awkward.

If they want it now, why don't they just change it so that there is only one team? If they can't for some reason then why would that reason change post-Olympics?
