Gazza_8 233
I touched on this in the Accies v Rangers match thread but I feel the subject needs a thread of its own. Why oh fuckin' why does WS seem content on sitting on 1-0 leads? Celtic were always going to score a few today and claw back the goal difference. When we went 1 up today, WS should've told the players to go for the killer 2nd, not sit back and defend in the hope that Accies don't score. WS does it far too often and if the opposition do score then we're fucked cause WS hasn't a clue how to change things around in-game. Some may say a win's a win but Rangers should be giong to places like Hamilton and taking at least 3 goals off them. This sitting back on a 1-0 lead really gets on my tits!
Super_Ally 0
I'm not sure we did sit back on the lead. We were dominating the game. We had several good chances to add to our lead. Even when Whittaker came on, a perceived defensive change, we made a few good chances. Just one of those days were it didn't fall for us. As I've said we'll play worse and win by a greater margin. I don't believe it will come down to GD in any case. Edited February 28, 2009 by Super_Ally
craig 5,199
I agree S_A. I dont think there was any doubt that Accies would start the 2nd half fired up and motivated. They got into the game for about 15-20 minutes but we still dominated proceedings. Only poor final balls really stopped it from being 4 or 5
Norris Cole 0
I don't believe it will come down to GD in any case. I hope you're right, but with us and them on equal points and only 11 games to go now it's a distinct possibility. I think we've reached the stage where the next points dropped by either team could be fatal. Thing is, I'm not nearly as confident of beating them at Ibrox as I would have been during Walter's first 12 months.

If we start worrying about how many we score rather than winning the 3 points we could well end up dropping points and surrendering the league.
craig 5,199
I am actually more confident of beating them at Parkhead than I am at Ibrox. Seems the away team is more suited to these games these days, sitting back, soaking up the pressure, hitting on the break. If we win the next 11 games we are champions and, for that reason, 3 points each week is all we should be aiming for - BUT.... we should not be simply setting our stall out to get ahead in a game and then hanging on. There is a fine line between winning and drawing - which means you dont, and shouldnt, need to be overly aggressive when winning by committing too many men forward - but you also shouldnt be sitting on your own 18 yard line !
gisabeer 409
Kyle lafferty yet again failed to impress and its beggars belief he got the nod for today considering who was on the bench. We were screaming out for a player with a bit of guile and walter pulls out a joker and puts on whittaker. No point in argung the toss about what goes through his mind but this is the sort of decision making that will cost us the league. We got away with it today but better sides will punish us for our lack of width and creativity. No balls again im afraid.
Zappa 0
Apparently St.Mirren were paid a million quid back hander to go to the City cowp & lay down so that some stinky rubbish could pour over the top of them.
Whosthedado 1,737
Lafferty was pretty poor again and I was even looking at the bench at the start of the game and thinking why are they not in instead of him. To then put Whittaker on, a right back at left wing, beggars belief and sums up the defensive mindset of our manager. I don't know about anyone else but the last ten mins of that game yesterday were hell for me. One slip and that was that. If we had been 2 or 3 up it wouldn't have mattered anyway. WS's defensive outlook could end up costing us the Title
alexscottislegend 2,409
Kyle lafferty yet again failed to impress and its beggars belief he got the nod for today considering who was on the bench[/color]. Actually I thought Lafferty played quite well; he always looked a threat, but remember it's not his fault he's playing out of position. Walter said he was in there because he wanted 'height.' So why not put him in the middle? He's had this obsession about playing a natural centre forward out on the left since he brought McCulloch here. But to take him off for Whittaker? When Aaron and Fleck - proven left-siders - were on the bench? As you say it beggars belief.
