Hearts knockback 2m for Berra.

Sky Sports News reporting Hearts KO'd a 2m bid from Wolves.

Would suspect 2.5m/3m region would likely secure his signature ?

He does seem to have matured as a player this season into a decent young CB.

Hearts could possibly do some good business out of this.

Imagine if we played the odd promisign youth. Maybe we could raise their profile and hance value and sell them on for a profit.

Look at McCormack. hardly played, did get a CL goal against Porto. Did we get a fee from Motherwell? And then they sell him down to Cariff, no doubt for a reasonable sum.

Expect your Loy's, Lennon's and Shinnie's to disappear without a trace of for that matter a fee.

Ross McCormack was released by Rangers.......Motherwell received £120,000 from Cardiff for him because his contract was expiring.

McCormack's settled down and concentrating on his game....he liked the party lifestyle to much at Rangers and it took its toll....he seems quite focused now on his game and played really well against Arsenal on Sunday as well.

I take it that when you say 'we' you don't mean the support :fish:

It's a tricky one. We've had a few youngsters over the past decade who've broke into the first team and managed to raise their profile enough - Ferguson, Hutton, McGregor. I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if Fleck is sold for a few £m within a couple of seasons, should he live up to expectations.

For those who do make the break through, there's always a Malcolm, Hughes, Ross or Adam, who are barely good enough to have made it at Rangers nevermind being valuable assets. Then you've got the injury prone ones like Burke or Smith who have plenty of ability, but are just too much of a risk to command a high sell-on fee.

Was that perhaps more to do with how we progressed them from 16/17 year old into the 1st team set up ?

We always here from u10 to u16 were fantastic....then something seems to go amiss from then on.

I know they changed the structure to improve this area moving forward...was it down to poor coaching/management or simply some of the boys we keep simply are not good enough.

Didn't know that.

but it doesn't make him a bad person.....

Got his missus pregnant then did the off with her best pal....was in few rags at the time with his missus slagging him etc.

He was giving it the begging bowl on how he'd sold his house and moved back in with his mother....because he wasnt giving her any money.

Maybe he was getting advise from Mr Lennon on parenting skills. :D

A lot of it can be put down to the pressure and demands of playing for a club like Rangers. It's as much to do with strength of character as ability. Hutton was a good example of this. Many young players would have crumbled under the abuse he took from the support, but he kept his chin up and developed into a better player for it. You can't coach a player for that. The management and senior players can try and protect the youngsters and offer advice, but at the end of the day it's down to how the players handle it themselves.
