johnnyk 158
RANGERS have won their appeal over Sasa Papac's red card in Saturday's 3-1 win over Falkirk and he is now free to play at Aberdeen this weekend. Referee Willie Collum looked at the incident again and decided that it should not have been an instant dismissal after Papac challenged Falkirk substitute Mark Stewart on the halfway line. The matter will now be referred to the Review Panel who will decide if a yellow card should be issued instead. The Panel, which consists of an ex-referee, an ex-manager and an ex-player, is due to meet before the end of the week. If it decides that a yellow card is appropriate then three points will be added to Papac's disciplinary record. He currently has 12 points and would therefore move to 15 which is three short of the threshhold where suspension kicks in. It's a welcome boost for manager Walter Smith as Papac has been one of the most consistent performers in the side this season. http://www.rangers.premiumtv.co.uk/page/News/NewsDetail/0,,5~1527618,00.html

Frankie 8,552
Good stuff. Well done to the ref for admitting his mistake.
Gazza_8 233
He could still get hit with a suspension though. The panel may throw the appeal out! Good news that he's available for Saturdays match though.

No they can only enforce a yellow card which doesn't take him over the points limit.

Bluedell 5,614
I'm shocked that Collum has admitted he made a mistake, but all credit to him for that. He has gone up in my estimation. People can accept refs making mistakes if they come out after and just admit they got it wrong, but the general attitude is one of arrogance and it only gets fans' backs up.
Super_Ally 0
Like the rest pleasantly suprised by the admission. When I saw the post in Footie chat regarding Cregg's appeal being thrown out i'd yet to hear anything on Papac and was confident it would be overturned.
maineflyer 0
Excellent. Justice does occasionally visit Ibrox then. Got to give jack his jacket on this one.
