Gers Fan Banning Order-Famine Song

Recommended Posts

Glad to hear it! Rangers fans have been asked not to sing it and he and others continually do, although not so much anymore.

Well done.

You can have your opinion pal, but I will never agree with saying "well done" to getting a Rangers Fan Fined for singing a chant or song at a football match, as that is allowed.

And if someone is offended fukk them, as I am ex Army do you think I like it when the aircraft carriers sing their pira sh_te.

And b4 you dissect and redifine what I said That is why I sing back at them, as I will say again " as that is allowed".

That statement you have above is a joke and one of the reasons we are treated the way we are.

For me there are a number of issues.

I understand what Gav is saying but I agree with it only if there is consistency. If Rangers fans are the only ones being brought to justice for this then it is abominable.

For the life of me I just cannot see how it could be upheld as racist.

Just change the "famine words" with "you want to be Oirish, so why don't you go home".

For the life of me, I can't see how the famine song can event approach the bigotry of "Go home ya H*ns".

For a start, "why don't you go home?" is purely a question and with "the famine is over" it seems to me to be informing someone about something that they might find agreeable and suggesting that they make themselves happier by going home. So the question is actually reasonable and not particularly provocative.

Whereas, "Go home" is an aggressive command.

There is no racist term for anyone whatsoever in the famine song, whereas "H*n" is a racist and sectarian term.

The two songs are at the opposing ends of the same spectrum but while one is very mild and actually a piss take out of a strange plastic paddy attitude, the other is extremely strong and obviously sectarian; however, somehow it's the former that is the one that gets punished...

Just change the "famine words" with "you want to be Oirish, so why don't you go home".

I don't think that quite works as it suggests the Irish are not welcome in our country.

Whereas the famine song points to the fact many Tims say they are only here because of the famine, so the reply is that it's over, so they can go home if they like instead of staying in the UK while constantly complaining about our country.

Maybe the song should be, "If you hate the UK and you're not British, why don't you go somewhere else?"

That's a reasonable question and is not aimed at any race or sect whatsoever. It's purely aimed at people who hate the country they have CHOSEN to live in.

Well done.

That can only have been posted as an exercise in attention seeking. Sorry but no decent bear could think like that.

Seriously, what this country requires is a good old 3-4 years of complete and utter anarchy - I watched the greeks rioting in Athens with envy and wondered why this country sits on its arse and lets the government take our freedoms, liberties, jobs, money and sells this wonderful land down the river.

Well said. Pretty much sums up what me and Shroomz have been saying in the lounge about whats happening with the global agenda.

I also run about outside with my cock out too. :fish:

In all seriousness though mate, why would I want to attention seek on an internet forum?

I've not said I disagree with the authorities banning the song but at the end of the day it's been banned so we need to stop singing it. The boy who got punished continued singing it so the relevant authorities dealt with him, severley.

The song wasn't banned by the authorities and not singing it was only "requested" by Rangers.

Rangers can kick him out of their premises by all means for a breach of their own etiquette, but how he can be convicted just because some idiots take mock offence at their own twisted interpretation of a harmless wind-up chant beggars belief.

The authorities have been well and truly duped by the MOPES.

So what's with the "well done" bit, as though you thoroughly enjoyed it, and you also came across in the post as if you would be quite happy for loads of bears to get fined/jailed.

Mabye it's just me, but fukk having you in the trenches with me.

I believe that the Irish would be classified as a race under current legislation.

You could probably dispute this in a court of Law, as to my knowing there are no hard and fast laws on what description a "race" is.

The most common idea on "Race" however would be that originated by Blumenbach:
