We have Played Attractive Football

Recommended Posts

I expect us to be "awesome" against a 10 man Hamilton side.

Oh do you? You harbour great expectations based on the last 4 years I've been taking in dire performances.

This season, when the right players are fit we play attractive, effective football against anyone, in the SPL at least. Cheer up. We just won by 6 goals and the scum lost. These are the days when being a football fan puts a spring in your step. Come on tae!

I'm perfectly happy. No need to cheer up thanks.

It's been a very good weekend for us but truth be told we're still 4 points behind a poor Celtic team. Not good enough in my opinion.

Truth be told with our point level at 39 in 17 games, if that rate continues we'll have a projected total of 87 points.

While that is not exactly a league winning total (although it would have won two seasons ago) it is above our average in the last 6 years which is 84.

However, despite giving the usual needless points away of your average Rangers team this decade, we've been robbed of at LEAST 4 points by the referees.

If we had those points or the decisions even out over a season then our projected total would be a more healthy 96 which would have won the league on 4 out of the last 6 seasons and would be our second highest score after the 97 we gained with De Boer et al.

Even if we gain points at the rate we have so far but without any more bad decisions then our projected total would be 92pts, that's enough to win the last three seasons and be our third biggest total in the last 7 years after a 97 and 93, the years we last won the league.

So while we're not setting the heather alight we're pretty competitive compared with recent years and so while the team don't deserve much praise, they certainly don't deserve too much of a slagging based on the last 7 years worth of results.

Celtic themselves should be at least 5 points down due to bad refereeing decisions and if we had rugby type cameras, we'd now be five points ahead and the present picture while not pretty, is not fully representative.

BTW Celtic have averaged 92 points over the last 6 years, so we're currently as good as an average Celtic team, but with at least 4 points harshly denied.

One thing we've certainly done is narrow the gap and I can only see us getting better and their luck beginning to turn as well as less refereeing decisions, which makes me still pretty confident we'll win this season.

Rangers v Celtic total points over the last 6 seasons:

86 89

72 84

74 91

93 92

81 98

97 97

I really think we're starting to be far more critical on the present team than we currently have any right to be based on previous Rangers teams in the last few years.

We need improvement, yes, but we have to acknowledge that we've already made some big strides.

See all this talk regarding Celtic and how they should be 5 points down and how we should be 4 points up, it's bullshit! Yes, there's been dodgy decisions this season, lots of them but nothing can be done about them so there's no point moaning and bringing it up. The decisions are done, lets move on!

We're sounding so much like the paranoid Celtic fans of yesteryear.

Makes perfect sense to me
