Vieira was bought for under £1M Henry was bought with the money Arsenal got from the Anelka sale and after they bought Henry they still had money left over from the Anelka sale. Wengers 1st title was in 1998 when Henry wasn't there. Man Utd bought Veron, RvN and Ferdinand for just under £80M. Arsenal bought the 3 players you mentioned for about £25M. To compare Arsenal with Man Ure and Chelski is ludicrous. Infact to compare anyone to Chelsea is ludicrous. Teams need to spend big to win things in England and in Europe I'm not denying that but Arsenal have been the smallest spenders to win the league since Leeds in 1992. I liked what they stood for in their first season; a toy with unlimited cash to end Arsenal and Man Utd's stranglehold on the EPL - with all these shiny new glamorous players. I found it a curious state of affairs and intruiging as Britain has never had a Real Madrid style club before. But I never supported them as a club - only English clubs I like in any way are Everton and Newcastle. However, the fighting that day was pretty poor. It was pretty poor actually and there was no need for it. They spent big, but not as big. Chelsea have spent about 4 times more than Arsenal and have achieved less - so far! Until Chelsea do something in Europe then I'll plersonally class them as failures.
