Valencia to review Aaron loan in summer.

Walter Smith must also answer as to why he paid over a million for Velicka and doesn't play him. Why he paid £3.5M for a centre who he deploys as a winger and why he paid over £2M for a defensive midfield player who again isnt given a chance to play.

All very important questions especially when you consider WS would rather play 6 playes out of position rathar than play the likes of Edu, Aaaron, McMillan et al.

Cammy I'm pretty sure I read something the other day from someone from the Lithuanian FA. He was saying they are not bothered about his lack of action just now because there is some "agreement" that he will get more action after the new year. Think it has something to do with the fact he has played over 60 games in the past year for Hearts, Lithuania, Kaunas etc. and needs some rest time.

Can anyone else confirm this?

Thing it's pretty poor to continue to have a dig at Boyd for one poor team performance at Hearts when he played well for about 8 games on the bounce from the Hamilton double header onwards including Dundee Utd and Aberdeen.

Couldn't agree more.

The service to Boyd on Saturday was woeful (and that is being mild on the midfield). Yet all of a sudden, again, Boyd can "only score against smaller teams". I would love to see Boyd's detractors score goals when they get the type of service he got on Saturday.

Long balls punted from back to front and we expect Boyd to win them against Berra and Karapidis who are both solid, tall CB's ? And even if he did win those headers what else could he do as the support was terrible.

But you just knew that the snipers would be back out again when we suffered defeat. Boyd is culpable but nowhere near as much as Ferguson, Mendes, Adam, Lafferty, McGregor - on Saturday the midfield was posted MISSING and McGregor didn't have a good game either - yet Boyd is now not only supposed to score goals but make all his own chances too ?!?!?!

Having just defended Boyd, I will say that his record against the so called bigger teams is woeful (not just in his Rangers career) - Kevin Thomson has a better scoring record (for a similar number of games) against Celtc than Boyd has.

However, he can't be blamed for the defeat on Saturday, nor can he be blamed for the performance. The statistic that is shameful reading is that we didn't force the Hearts keeper to make 1 save in the entire match.

If we are to play Boyd, we need to create chances - if we are to continue to play the high ball, we need to drop Boyd and sign a battering-ram type centre forward.

Surely replacing the almost universally ineffectual Darcheville with Novo would have left us with a pretty much direct replacement for Miller against HEarts though Cammy?

Though if the midfield and defence are as woeful as that, who plays upfront is almost irrelevant.

Can't agree - Novo isn't the same type of player as Miller. In fact, we don't have another player who can make the runs Miller makes (Cousin was the closest IMO).

Novo has been largely used as an impact player due to his pace and ability to run at tiring defences. I can't remember the last game Novo started in and put in a brilliant performance.

However, given the choice of Novo of JCD then it's a no-brainer - however, we have a guy we paid £3M for rotting on the left wing - why not give him a run through the centre? Or why not play Vilicka (sp)?

In my mind the ONLY striker who SHOULDN'T have played on Saturday was the one who was chosen to play beside Boyd.

JCD has been AWFUL this year yet he gets the nod ahead of Novo, Lafferty, Velicka etc.

Regardless of whether Novo is more of an impact player he is miles ahead on the RM position than Lafferty - so why not put Novo out right and Lafferty through the middle with Boyd ? Nah, that makes far too much sense. Lets go with a guy who certainly is NO RM (Lafferty), play a striker who has been awful all year (JCD)and leave a guy on the bench who at least has decent experience of playing RM (Novo).

I am starting to think there is something in the argument that WS tactics are terrible.

Why play a forward wide right, when you have 2 or 3 natural wide right players in your squad? One was playing left back, the other was on the bench and DID make an impact when introduced and other was signed on loan from Valencia and hasn't kicked a ball for the first team.....

Of the 3 you state the only one, IMO, who is a "natural" wide right player is Burke. Whittaker is an RB who can be "versatile" enough to play wide right. Aaron is a wide left player.

We lack width and Whittaker wouldn't be the person to provide the proper width and creativity that was lacking from the CM's on Saturday.

We have zero creativity in our team. Some of the best football we played last year was with Naismith and Burke playing wide - so why is it we have gone back to "solid" players instead of the creative players ?

Afriad not in some peoples views mate. He got his finger out and played well against a few lesser teams AFTER the Burley/Scotland thing. Then he has a few games against DUFC, Motherwell and Hearts and found the going tough - regardless of the service.

I was the first to say he was beginning to play well in those other games and took a few of his goals superbly, but if cant do it week in week out then its obvious he cant cut it at the top level. To win the title we need a regular goalscorer in the tougher games. Thats ONE of the differences between Coisty and Boyd - McCoist popped up all the time.

Agreed with Darcheville BTW - he was so poor towards the end of the season.

Id still like to see Lafferty upfront - on the wing we already know how bad he is.

And Velicka is a strange one - he was so promising in pre season.
