craig 5,199
I dont think there is any doubt that Durrant's career never hit those heights again. He was the one Scottish player who really did excite and had he remained injury free would have gone on to be a legend, absolutely no doubt in my mind. This may be controversial but I actually felt that Durrant was a better talent than Gazza, that is how highly I regarded him. The speed at which he could break past forwards made him almost impossible for a midfielder to mark.
calscot 0
I think he kept his skill but lost his lightning pace. The difference with Gazza is that he was highly skillful enough that his laziness and lack of pace didn't hinder him so much. Durrant needed that pace he had to elevate him to a higher level. Gazza didn't - however if Gazza had Lovenkrands type pace he'd have been up for world player of the year on many occasions and we would never have been able to afford him. PL is one of those players with great pace but not so much skill. Once his legs go, he'll disappear out of the game.

Gribz 846
Once his legs go, we'll re-sign him. Speaking of which, is this on the cards in January??? Is he still looking for a move back? Id take him in an instant. Solves the Left side probably and would be brilliant through the middle with Miller or Boyd on there current form. Lafferty is that type of player at the moment (LM / centre forward)...but hasnt really started his career yet. PL did it in the big games and id prefer him.
Bluedell 5,614
Gribz, I believe that we ended up going for Miller instead of him. I doubt that we will go for him as well now. We have enough strikers and enough people who can't really play on the left side of midfield.
calscot 0
Lovenkrands was pants on the left midfield and it was his big excuse that that wasn't his natural position. Through the middle I think he plays too deep for our current formation and squad and at the moment I'd rather have the likes of Miller up there supplying Boyd. It's a promising partnership that I'd like to see developed. However, I think each of them should lead a training session for the other. Boyd can teach Miller how to finish and Kenny can teach Kris how to hold the ball up and set up goals for others.

I agree, I would be a bit annoyed if we signed another striker while continuing to neglect our defence.

The fact is speed normally detracts from skill and insight. anyone running at 22mph can't possibly be as skilful as somebody moving at walking pace. A pace explosion over a few yards is the best thing to have. alla Cruiff
