It refers to the youthfulness and lightness of build of our players in the early days compared to the older physical teams. It stems from a newspaper article in 1877. It called the Rangers" the Light and speedy blues." The name was later shortened to the light blues for short. And no Craig,Jon or Gribz i was not present at the time.
