Guest ricky
May i just defend Celtic here.Celtic were dammed if they did and dammed if they didnt.Celtic accepted that there is a lunatic fringe who would have disrupted this and brought shame and embaressment on MY club.99.9% of Celtic fans in that ground yesterday would have stood silent for 1 minute no problem, but unfortunately these arseholes "the Green Brigade" decide they speak and act for the majority...they dont.At bang on 10 mins into the game roughly around 50/60 (no more) stood up and exited the ground, and were roundly booed. All Celtic done was not give these arseholes a platform to spew their hatred, which unfortunately they get every away game.
johnnyk 158
The rest of Great Britain showed respect by having a minutes silence, why must celtic be different? I don't know how anyone can defend them on this..........
calscot 0
I can see Ricky's point. However, to back it up, they need to condemn the supporters they are covering for.
calscot 0
Scratch that, they could do with first acknowledging they actually exist, without such, Ricky's reasoning doesn't actually wash. How can Celtic be applauded for not letting a certain minority of fans ruin the day, when they don't officially exist. They can't have it both ways...
Bluedell 5,679
May i just defend Celtic here.Celtic were dammed if they did and dammed if they didnt. No they weren't. Celtic as a club are damned for holding a minute's applause. They had the option of doing the right thing or the wrong thing and they did the wrong thing. They allowed themselves to be dictated to by the "lunatic fringe" (who seemed to be in the majority at Tynecastle). Let's be honest. They did what suited them as they didn't want to do it. Have they done it in the past? No. Have they worn poppies on their strips in the past? No. Why is that? Because of a lunatic fringe? No. Because your club is inherently anti-British? Yes.

They get up to it at home games as well, and their behaviour is therefore officially sanctioned. They get away with their "some men fight for silver" banner or their Michael Davitt banner. Just why do Celtic allow the Green Brigade to continue to operate? I'm starting to see a pattern emerge.......
Zappa 0
No. Because your club is inherently anti-British? Yes. Sorry for selective quoting you BD, but if you step outside of our little media driven box for a moment, you'll maybe notice that countries & generally large numbers of people of all sorts of beliefs & religions all around the world are anti- British (more so anti-English to be precise), simply because the British governments have done some terrible things throughout the past few centuries.

Not sure of the relevence to a British football club being anti-British.
Gazza_8 233
Who decided it had to be a minutes silence this weekend? Surely either would've sufficed. As far as I'm concerned Celtic and the majority of their fans paid their respects. The minority are just scumballs.
Gazza_8 233
50 or 60 fand left Porkheed on Saturday, big deal! I'm sure Celtic will be appalled by this.....NOT! Every support up and down the country has a moronic element to it. It's the fannies own decision what they do.
