craig 5,199 Posted October 22, 2008 Share Posted October 22, 2008 I was going to do a piece to compare and contrast the benefits, or otherwise, of spending significant sums on young players (with our spending on Lafferty and Edu etc as the comparison) It seems that, for the most part, Wenger does it incredibly well. I remember Arsenal paying 12 mill for him (5 mill up front and potentially 12 in total IIRC) and thinking "Wenger is crazy, he has hardly played for Saints and there is no way he is worth that". Seems that the way Walcott is playing (and given his goalscoring exploits for club and country that Arsenal could probably get in excess of 20 mill for him right now). Ramsey looked the part too and a very accomplished finish. If they play like that every game then they would be unstopable but they will probably lose this weekend (mind you there record is pretty poor against the Hammers ). BUt id love to see them blow Chelsea and Man U away with another season like 2004.
