There's too many people that seem to think that buying season tickets & jerseys makes RFC 'their' club literally & gives them rights that they simply don't have. Newsflash - Buying Season tickets & jerseys for your whole family as well as investing your hard-earned savings in some RFC shares still doesn't (& shouldn't imo) give you ANY say in how the club is run. Too many people with big mouths & even bigger egos imo.

Just my 0.02 cents. :P

Where in all of this debate does the too many people with big mouths and even bigger ego's come into it ?

Do you think for one minute that the people who disagree and have a different opinion to yourself are somehow suddenly egotists?

If you don't want debate, don't come onto a message board, simple as.

A football club isn't like a normal business and the fans do deserve some sort of input. Perhaps we don't have the inside knowledge and therefore can't see the big picture, but there are basics like standing up for the club, its players and support when lies are written about them that shuld be adhered to.

I think being truthful is also a basic tenet that should be applied more.

Some people are driven by ego, but in my experience most are just driven by a love of their club.

I agree that a football club isnt like a normal business and everything in your first paragraph.

Re your 2nd paragraph about truths being a basic tenet that should be applied more.... I couldnt agree more but sadly there are many, many companies and their executives who will lie through their teeth to achieve their own means (we only need look at Enron for the perfect example and there are plenty of others - the Enron execs not only put the company under but also wiped out the pension funds of all their employees - and yet some of the execs STILL believe they did no wrong). Now, that said, SDM is not governed to the same extent by having to appease shareholders (as he owns the vast majority of shares) so he should find it easier to hold your basic tenet true. However, I suspect he lost all sight of being honest on a regular basis a long time ago.

The one thing that goes against your otherwise well-reasoned argument was that Azure made losses and would have been a drain on resources.

I didn't realise that Azure made losses as I've never seen anything published about their financial reports (although I did cover that scenario in saying that an advantage to having them is that they take all the risks).

However, it seems to me that the losses must have been incurred by operations outwith Ibrox. DO you think this was due to trying to grow the company too quickly or just bad management?

I suppose this does show the advantage of this kind of contracting out for fixed amounts a la JJB. You may not bring in your maximum potential in good years but you are protected from the bad years.

Also those running the club will always have a much better idea of projected income and will offer them more control over their operating budget.

One still has to wonder if a company under the umbrella of Rangers FC could still increase the profits as a stand-alone company solely catering for all food supplied at Ibrox...

Not sure what the reason for the losses were. I didn't look into it any further. At a guess I would presume that they didn't have enough contracts to bring in the necessary economies of scale, which is a normal problem in start-ups.

A specialised company should be able to provide better value for money than a coompany under the rangers umbrella, due to the aforementioned economies of scale. We aren't a catering company, that's not where our expertise is, and senior management should be concentrating on more important areas IMO.

The decision to tender catering has to be the right one. We are just left with the question as to whether Azure were the correct company and whether we maximised our return.

Well, I personally think that guys that think they're doing the right thing for RFC by standing outside Ibrox hurling abuse at SDM come into that category.

Do you think for one minute that the people who disagree and have a different opinion to yourself are somehow suddenly egotists?

No, of course not. We're all entitled to our opinion. I'm simply calling into question the people that think they ARE RFC because they spend their wages on tickets & travelling to matches. That doesn't make any fan or supporter THE club. The people or a section of the people, but not the club. A fan or supporter is just that & nothing more. Some of them either just seem to forget that fact or don't know what planet they're on. RFC isn't going to collapse into mediocrity because a few thousand fans think they're so important that they can attempt to hold the club over a barrel.

Righty ho. Obviously I've struck a nerve. :notworthy:

1st point. Why do you think that a protester is only protesting for the sake of his ego ?

2nd point. Yes we are all entitled to our opinion.

3rd point. If that's the best you can come up with, you're not very good are you.

Egos come into it when people think they're more than what they are.

The protesters don't do much except damage the name of RFC supporters & the club itself.

cheers,

Mark

Mark , I cannot speak for every protester but I think they only want the best for their club.

I was not party to the kid on crap that was supposed to happen on saturday.

I do want The Rangers to always be The No1 Club in scotland.
