Gribz 850
Fine post Cammy. I hold no grudge towards Carlos at all and wish him all the best at Villa. I cant work out why anyone would call him a judas for bettering himself and jumping from a sinking ship. I still also believe he would still be a Gers player if we were in the CL. The downsizing shows no sign of slowing down. The standard of player is getting worse every season bar the odd excemption like Cuellar and Hutton who just end up being sold anyway and replaced with SPL standard or OAP's. The gap between the rest of the SPL and Rangers is slowly closing and its only because of our few better players we manage to stay in the top 2. Take McGregor, Cuellar (taken already), Papac, Ferguson and Novo out of the team and replace them with the Whittakers, McCullochs and Adams etc then the fight for 3rd place would be tough. Add that to the fact as poor as other clubs are technically they still have a organised system and right players in the right positions. The Hearts game this weekend will be VERY interesting!!
calscot 0
Ach, come on. It's the same old pish throughout football. Players play primarily for themselves & secondarily for their clubs. You actually can't blame them either since their career length dictates that they look out for themselves & their lives after football. They might get paid a fortune, but they might have to make that fortune last them 40-50 years after stopping playing unless they fancy going back to being a chippie or plumber at the age of 60. Most of them don't become media pundits or rag columnists. Sorry but for players like Cuellar this is irrelevant. Someone with a very good career on a very high average of 50 grand a year for 40 years will earn £2M in their lifetime. Cuellar will earned more than half of that in one year last season and will probably earn that full amount next year. When you're earning a lifetime's wage in a year, the shortness of the career has no bearing whatsoever.
