Gribz 919
Cristiano Ronaldo's relationship with Sir Alex Ferguson has reportedly deteriorated to the extent that the Portugal winger is unwilling to meet with the Manchester United manager to discuss his future. Despite being granted permission to talk to the 23-year-old at Portugal's Euro 2008 training base by Luiz Felipe Scolari, Ferguson has effectively been barred from doing so by Ronaldo himself. The player is understood to be so angry with Ferguson's claim at the weekend that the Glazers would prefer to see the forward "rot" than sell him to Real Madrid that he has vowed not to speak to the Scot. The snub will only darken Ferguson's mood as he attempts to enjoy the sunshine in the south of France. Already seething over what he perceives as Real Madrid's unethical pursuit of his star player, Ferguson is bound to have reacted angrily to confirmation from Ronaldo on Thursday that he wants to move to the Spanish capital. Ferguson will stubbornly resist Real's overtures, even if they formally offer a world-record bid in excess of £75m, but the apparent deterioration of his relationship with Ronaldo puts a new slant on matters and one that only increases the likelihood of the Portuguese forward leaving. Ronaldo has agreed a contract with Real Madrid worth £150,000 a week, according to the club's mouthpiece Marca. The Spanish newspaper claim that the Portugeezer has decided to commit himself to Madrid for the next five years and will move as soon as an official bid is accepted by Manchester United. Ronaldo made it clear in an interview with Brazilian newspaper Terra that he wants the move and says he will not comment on the subject again until after Euro 2008. He is reported to have made it clear that he will not welcome a visit from Sir Alex Ferguson after the Scot said that they would rather see Ronaldo in the stands than sell to Real Madrid. Those comments appear to have strengthened his resolve to leave. There seems little doubt that if Madrid put their money where their mouths are and offer a world-record transfer fee, United will have little choice but to accept the bid and spend the money on replacements. But this 'news' from Marca emerges on the same day that Ronaldo's mother - always thought to be a motivation behind a move to Madrid - appeared to suggest that he should stay in England. She is quoted as telling TV1: "He is happy where he is. Only God knows the future, but what is certain is that he will continue in England." This could get interesting! Sir Awex has made his way over to Austria to see him. I wonder if he will make him sit in the stands
alexscottislegend 2,378
What's even more interesting is that if a club like like Man. U can't tell other clubs to GTF - what chance have we e.g. with Carlos?
juffery 0
It'll be a shame for Man U if he goes. Ferguson is building a superb team that is only gonna get better and if Ronaldo goes, it'll be a big loss. I've heard though that it's always been his ambition to train in Milngavie.
geo1873 0
no according to the lads mum - Cristiano Ronaldo's mother Dolores Aveiro says her son will be staying at Manchester United next season, despite the Portuguese winger reportedly claiming he wanted to join Real Madrid. Ronaldo, who has long been a transfer target of the Primera Liga champions, was quoted as telling Brazilian website Terra on Thursday that he would like to move to Madrid if they were willing to pay what Manchester United ask. But now, his mother claims he is happy in England and has no intention of joining Real. "He is fine where he is. The future only God knows, but what is sure is that he is going to continue in England," Averio was quoted as telling Portuguese television station TVI.
