The first one is that there's been a bust-up with some of the backroom staff or refused to play for the reserves or something else which makes for good reading. I'm a Rangers fan, not a Gow fan and I'm more concerned with what happens to Rangers fans money than Gow's money. How can you say he was badly treated about playing when he's had offers from three clubs who would put him in the first team, yet he's still here. The guy's all about himself and money and doesn't give a shit about the fans. That is his right and prerogative but if he doesn't give a shit about us, why should we give a shit about him? It seems the fashion these days to "feel sorry" for players who weren't good enough to get a run in the Rangers team and at the same time slag off players who did take their chance, like Broadfoot. Frankly stated, with all the pressure on teams to win, a coach will put up with a hell of a lot from a player if he thinks he can help him get some victories. Players have behaved far worse than Gow (Barry at Villa, for example), yet are welcomed with open arms if they have ability and can better the squad. By not seeing his limitations as a player, Gow is his own worst enemy. He has allowed his damaged ego to hamper his chances for a fresh start. Holding Rangers to ransom for a golden handshake in the case of Burnley (who agreed to meet his wages and give him a relocating bonus) was stupid. As calscot said, he already was sitting on a pile of money he got for nothing. Asking for Rangers to pay out the last two years of his contract was a poor decision. Insisting on a move to a SPL team when only 3 others can afford his salary - crazy. He is wasting the best years of his career because of spite and hurt feelings and developing a bad reputation to boot. Imagine you bought a cheap golf club to add to your set because it looked good and seemed to be a bargain which could replace an older, worn out club. However, you just can't quite get on with it at the driving range. So you never put it in your bag for a game apart from the odd practice round where it still doesn't fill you with confidence. Do you then start to use the club in proper matches and competitions? Probably not. Do you then feel sorry for the club for not using it? Not likely. Do you try and sell the club to someone else? Probably. Now I know clubs are inanimate objects and players are human, but a manager cannot afford any more sentimentality in his choice of player than we do in our choice of club on championship day. Rangers are also not a charity and there is no point paying a lot of money to keep a player that you have no confidence in. If you had to pay money every week for your club would you keep it or try and sell it? Imagine then you get a buyer but find out you have to pay more money to get rid of the club? Our choice of clubs for a championship day is probably the nearest we ever get to choosing a professional team line up for a competitive game. We try and choose what will help us win, and not what we feel sorry for.
