pete 2,499
England get an extra team for topping the fair play list and Alan McGregor and Zenit player Pavel Pogrebnyak picked out Germany and denmark to get an extra team in next years compitition. I have no idea how they judge this but it stinks of favouritism.
calscot 0
We don't want it - the last time we got it, Kilmarnock entered Europe as our fourth team. They lost both games and so added nothing to the coefficient. Not only that all point the three other teams accumulated were then divided by 4 instead of 3. So we'd have been better off if Kilmarnock had not been in Europe at all. Scottish teams outside the OF have an incredibly poor record in Europe in the last twenty years with Hearts being about the only club that can maybe just about scrape a pass mark. Without the Old Firm our coefficient would be well below Ireland's and the likes of Latvia which is shocking. Then the ironic thing is that instead of teams entering the Intertoto cup and getting some European experience, most years, our lesser teams have thought themselves too good for a tournament, where the likes of Newcastle pragmatically enter as a route to the UEFA cup.
