Jon 0
Not to start another great long thead, but just to see everyones opinions on his performance today. He seemed to win everything in the air, nice flick ons, short and wide, good few chances an set up a goal. Pat Nevin seemed to be raving about him and even at one point said that this was the player WS may want him to be. JUst wanted everyones opinions, especially those that were there, was his workrate and play as good as it looked on the highlights?

Super_Ally 0
Like yourself only saw the highlights Jon, but he looked good didn't he. Unfortunate not to have a goal to go with his performance as well. Cracking save from the keeper, another shot denied by an arm and numerous others. Along with his assist and all round play. He wouldn't have missed the penalty either.
Jon 0
Pretty much sums up my thoughts yeah. As I said, I dont want a great long thread about who SHOULD be playing up front, just on what people thought today. I think he's been working on all aspects and maybe tonight they came together as there seemed a bit of everything we have all asked for in there (apart from the goal, go figure)
juffery 0
I have to say the last few times I've seen Boyd play he has impressed me with his workrate and hold up play. Next season he'll be our main striker - maybe.

I think the guy is amazing but even after his cup final exploits a couple of weeks back it will probably still be JCD that starts on Wednesday because of his powerful runs. I think Nacho might start the game on Wednesday too !
craig 5,199
Boyd will need more than one decent performance against 1st division opposition to convince WS, AM and KM that he deserves to start, rightly or wrongly. I for one though have been much more impressed with his attitude when played this season, his work-rate has been much better (better on many occasions than the much vaunted Cousin), as long as he continues to make the effort to better his game and mould it into what WS wants then he will get his chance, hopefully.
pete 2,499
Shit forgot about the highlights. To be honest Boyd is born in the wrong Era. If he had played in the 70's 80's then he would have been first pick. A modern striker needs to do more than just score goals. That sounds crazy but if a striker can't hold on to a ball then with modern athletic football your defence is put under pressure as your midfield are caught in no man's land. Personally i don't think you can rebuild a players technical ability you may be able to improve it to a certain extent but i don't see any more in Boyd than a super-sub. He can play in games you dominate but in games where you are on the back foot he is just not good enough. Novo against Werder out is the perfect example. Because he could not hold the ball up we were put under pressure for ninety minutes.
Jon 0
About Boyd today Pete mate, as I said, didn't want to go over old ground. I was just interested in todays performance and what peoples thoughts were. Not the past or the future.
