alexscottislegend 2,306
Anybody else heard the rumour Walter will sign him in summer? Can't for the life of me see why. Does that mean there is a serious long-term doubt over Steven Smith? If he's just for back-up, then we've already got Papac and Whittaker for LB

juffery 0
As well as papac and whittiker have done, neither are natural left backs. I can see the point i bringing one in, but don't know anything about McCartney.
Gazza_8 233
Good player. Nothing fancy about him but does the job that needs to be done without any fuss. I'd still lprefer to see Smith in that position next season though.
br1ndy 0
He's a west ham regular, he wouldn't come. Would prefer Smith any day.
eightball 0
McCartney is a decent left-back and likes to get forward. From what I can remember he can also play at CB. One potential problem with George is that he has BA syndrome "I ain't getting on no damn plane!" which it is believed led him to fall out with previous NI manager Lawrie Sanchez and his self-imposed international exile. Now that Sanchez has gone McCartney is back in the NI squad and playing pretty well. He's a regular for WHU this season, and has plenty of Premier League experience so he's certainly good enough quality. Whether he'd want to come up to Scotland is difficult question, most players would be swayed by the European football, but since McCArtney doesn't travel the best perhaps it won't be a deal clincher. Personally I think he'd be a good (but expensive) signing and he'd add to the squad.
Gribz 847
Very decent player but is struggling at the moment due to playing in a terrible defence. Had a good spell from August to Dec where I saw every West Ham game bar 1. He likes to get forward and link with the left sided player. Wouldnt be a bad signing but Papac' form recently would be on par with McCartney.
