Another record broken today

Perhaps a forum member who is keen on stats can illustrate just how terrible we have been since BF took the helm. For me the difference on the park is stark.

But that's not a reason / excuse to say we should have retained Clement.

Clement collected some unwanted records of his own before eventually being sacked.

We were never getting a permanent replacement as the takeover was in full swing.

The board went for the "easy option" as short term replacements go, but bo decent manager was going to take the reigns knowing that the new owners would appoint their own man.

Cammy, I'm not saying Clement done great things, I'm saying sacking him for this current management team was always going to be a disaster, and it is. The other lot are loving it. There is also the damage done to the players who were improving, albeit not fast enough under Clement who are now going backwards. It was a clear case of biting off our nose to spite our face.

To be fair, you're probably right. The QP game has perhaps coloured my view, together with the Celtic and Fenerbahce results. However the home losing streak is extremely bad.

Clement was never going to be there next season but the appointments of BF & co was a knee-jerk reaction which hasn’t shown any improvement. We’re now in negative goal difference GD since BF & co took over….let that sink in

I don't need to let it sink in, I do go and watch Rangers now and again.

The board were slow to sack Clement so left themselves in an awkward situation given the impending takeover.

They then did what they do best - went for the easy / lazy option hoping it would appease the fans (like we're zipped up the back).

But again, no matter how bad we are at the moment doesn't excuse Clement and can't be, in retrospect an excuse for keeping him on.

Clement was given peanuts to spend last summer while Celtic were spending £30m.

I did say at the time that Clement should have been given the season, then moved on.

Nothing was gained by sacking him then.

Either sack him early or leave it until the end of the season. I thought there were mitigating circumstances to go with the latter.

Not true. Even if it were, it was far more than the teams he struggled to beat. But finishing 2nd was the objective so maybe we were wrong to sack him.

How much was BF given to spend?

You’re not seriously suggesting when they’re spending £30m and we’re spending a fraction of that we should expect to finish above them? Until our finances change or we somehow unearth better players from somewhere at low cost then second is about as good as we’ll get at the moment.

I don’t particularly like that but that’s how things are at the moment
