[FT] Rangers 0 - 0 Athletic Club

Rice could and should have been withdrawn by the time he was fouled. We seriously lacked more pace up front and someone drawing people too him, someone to take the ball away from our half. McCausland, who might not be everyone's cup of tea, is that type of player, tracking back tenaciously, and has the pace to counter-attack. No idea where Cortes was, BTW. Probably sacrificed for Scottish bench-places.

Having watched it back, like last night, I have no idea how the VAR and ref came up with the penalty decision. That must have been contact on the molecular layer ...

I believe he's not in the Europa League squad so can't be picked.

The ball did touch his hand. The bigger question to me is whether it was in an unnatural position. There's an argument to say that it was in a natural position of someone who is running, but if it was the other way around, I'd certainly be claiming for it.

The ref told Tav it was given for intentional handball. Is it possible to intentionally handball when you don't know where the ball is? And yes, I'd claim for it too. Shy kids get nowt :D

Need to get the ball to the strikers and they need to be on their game to take any chance that comes there way  fed up seeing Cerny cutting inside then losing the ball tell him to play as an out and out winger

Delighted with that resolute performance. A real fighting performance from our big-game Charlies which keeps the tie alive which I thought after 10 minutes would be stone dead. It just goes to show that it is not easy for any side to play against a well organised defensive park the bus shape. We have better players than what we face domestically when we struggle to break them down, so when we do it, better sides than us similarly struggle to break it down.

I loved the 2008 throwback we embraced last night with every keeper kickout being aimed high left towards Hagi whose job was just to flick it on out of play into the far corner and let us regroup and get into shape before they attack again. Walter employed this tactic in that great Euro run to Manchester when Barry was captain, so it was funny to see a real anti-football tactic being brought back a generation later. It worked well for us as it denied them the opportunity to counter us.

One of the downsides to last night was the section of our support that has no intelligence and insist on singing something that could get a stand closure. How difficult is it to avoid one song for one night? F***ing idiots!

It definitely wasn't intentional.
