League set-up

Recommended Posts

There was a video posted on Reddit suggesting copying the Greek model, which sounded reasonable.

I think it was a 14-team league with a split (6 and 8). This would expand the league but also ensure the 4 Old Firm games for the TV deal.

I would also like more promotion and relegation spots.

Bigger league and ditch the four games nonsense.

I always thought the diddy teams wanted the 4 games because they could get 2 home games against us & them and sell out half their stadiums, but seeing as they don't want to do it any more lets just expand the league.

Because the current set-up is boring.

Playing the same teams 4 to 6 times a season is boring. I think a lot of football fans will have the same opinion.

I'd also say that the current set-up doesn't encourage player development.

I think that a larger league will bore you in a different way.

The extra teams added to the league will be beaten easily in many cases. If not then it will be because they play very defensively.

I don't know why anybody would think a larger league would encourage player development. I don't even care to find out though. Nobody should ever structure a league to improve player development. Nobody buys a ticket to watch a player develop.
