Who should be the new manager?

Recommended Posts

First thing I’d do would be a fortnight at Gullane intensive training I’ve never seen such a skinny scrawny bunch in Rangers shirts in my life little wonder they’re always injured.

Herr Rose would have to go some to live it down - not impossible, I concede.

To do so, he would need (have to recruit) a battery of players who are fit, fast, physically strong, possessed of basic skills, which they are able to apply,  tactically astute and flexible, are 'professional' on and off the pitch,  who do not feel that they are slumming it, and who will refuse to be bullied.

(The same would apply, no matter the appointment, of course.)

If he can do that, and win, then the unfortunate photograph might, just might, be consigned to the dustbin of history.

Much might depend upon nothing adverse emerging as to quite why he chose to behave in such a peculiar manner. Was it an empty gesture, or something more, em, sinister?

But surely any new manager is going to have to recruit players with those attributes?

I just hope any we do recruit don't have an unstaunch name, have leanings to our rivals or have any photos from 8 years ago they need to explain to some unhinged football fan.

I'm sure Mo Johnston and Neil McCann did OK for us.

Although Stein was a member of the same Lodge as my grandfather, I don't know if he had leanings towards Rangers. He had played for the fhilth in the 50s, on the other hand.

If Marco Rose could be as successful with Rangers as Stein was with them, I think many people would feel able to forgive him many, if not all, indiscretions.

As far as I can see, he (Rose) doesn't have any indiscretions. Unless having a Celtic scarf on for a few minutes after wiping the floor with them counts.

It's all hypothetical anyway as we don't know if he will get the job, or even be considered.

If he has sellik sympathies, it remains a 'No' from me.

It would, actually, be incredibly disappointing if the best that we could get was someone with a degree of affection for our enemies.

Not that it matters, none of us have any influence.

I await an explanation for the bizarre photograph, from him, once he is in situ.
