Record Sport can reveal Cavenagh visited the Auchenhowie facility as part of a VIP tour with his takeover team a fortnight ago, the day after watching Barry Ferguson’s side clinch a place in the quarter finals of the Europa League with a shoot-out win over Fenerbahce.

Maybe sizing it up as a site for a housing development.

V. Černý scored one assist for the Czechs against Gibraltar. Yes, it’s Gibraltar, but it had me thinking. With this takeover happening pretty rapidly and all eyes on Černý, it looks, from my perspective, that we are going to see a classic case of Malik Tillman here, even if we do have the funds to purchase him. What guarantees did we have in place prior to his arrival from his club, and was there a set price we would need to pay if he wants to stay with us and agrees to a contract?

I am not so sure.

Laying aside any 'Planning' issues, the site sits between two watercourses, the Allander Water, and the Pow Burn, has, therefore, significant drainage issues, and is prone to flooding. In fact, if I recall correctly, the development of the Training Centre incorporated a permanent pumping station within the development.

It's not quite the prime real estate that it appears at first glance.

Cerny has been superb, but I wouldn't burst the bank for him because he'll have very little sell-on value at his age.

If his decision making was better, he wouldn't be on loan at Ibrox.

He still has much to offer, including experience, and I don't think that the much vaunted player trading 'model' means that you churn 10 or 11 players per annum. You need the basis of a continuously successful side, surely, with 'keepers' (and this does not refer to 'goal tenders' -get used to it).

Maybe Vaclav Cerny is one that should be looked at in this regard.....
