Well, Tom English has just written about it on the (sorry!) BBC!

It is official.

Chris McLaughlin has just appeared on BBC Scotland's lunchtime news, standing on his preferred Hinshelwood grassy knoll. The main stand is over his shoulder and the eyes are twitching, straining for expected snipers when he uttered, "there exists a broad agreement among all parties".

I was expecting him to burst into a chorus of, 'I left my heart in ................. Papworth General'. Speculation will mount, Chris has(had) a heart?

Cammy is my source. ITK in chief.

In all seriousness. Not one specific source, but the lack of it being shot down by the usual sources etc. Looks like it is a goer.

I lifted it directly from Daily Express 😀

Timz & media won’t like this if potential good news for Rangers.

I’m sure Liewell will have summoned his generals( or should that be genitals) & told them in no uncertain terms what he expects from them.

Dumbcaster & MacLennan at the sPFL, Mulraney and his gang at the SFA and the numerous mhedia puppets. And the low level paper gatherers at Harper Macleod will also be getting themselves ready for action if needed.

Stand back and get ready for the fallout…😎

The images of Dave King, John Gilligan and Paul Murray standing arms aloft at Ibrox and being greeted by the cheering crowd at Argyle House resonate just as strongly today as they did in March 2015. The next images of the new Rangers hierarchy will mean just as much to a fan base who will celebrate the anniversary of regime change by heralding in regime change.

The message of ‘Make Rangers Great Again’ was emblazoned across the Copland Stand ahead of the Europa League fixture with Tottenham Hotspur. A couple of months on, the land where that slogan was coined will deliver the potential savours to the support.

No deal is ever complete until the ink is dry and the final one per cent is the most important one of all. This is a negotiation that is progressing in a positive manner, though, after discussions that date back as far as October between significant Rangers shareholders and a consortium – headed by Paraag Marathe  from 49ers Enterprises. It will be more than a couple of weeks, but not necessarily several months.

Read more:

Marathe is the chairman of Leeds United and and the president of 49ers Enterprises as well as being executive vice president of football operation. Sources in San Francisco have told the Rangers Review that Marathe is seen as a shrewd negotiator and have spoken of his business acumen. He has been with the 49ers for almost a quarter of a century and 49ers Enterprises also has interests in data and technology businesses, as well as other sports ventures, including the Elevate agency.

Another high net worth individual, who is seeking public anonymity at present, is also a leading figure in the process that will deliver the most sweeping changes to the makeup of the investor portfolio and the boardroom table since that day that the influence of Mike Ashley and the Easdales was ended.

This is a deal that not been driven by those who currently wear the club ties. On completion, few of the old guard will be left. Patrick Stewart, the newly appointed chief executive officer, is likely to remain in situ, as is Fraser Thornton, who was named as chairman in December following John Gilligan's stint as interim.

John Halstead, an American who made his money in private equity, could keep his spot. 49ers Enterprises will appoint their own people – at least two directors are expected to join the main board initially - and will run the club their way. It will now be their ball, so to speak, as the top table is reshaped and strengthened.

This is not the sort of investment that has seen the likes of Halsted or Julian Wolhardt come the table in recent years. It is not a tweak or change for change sake. This is ripping it up and starting again. It is a new era, a new way of working and fresh drive and ideas.

There will, of course, be funds available and two of the first major decisions will be who to give the chequebook to as Rangers look to recruit a sporting director and face a definitive call over the future of Philippe Clement in the coming months. The 49ers had the highest payroll in the NFL last season and investment will be forthcoming to potentially transform Rangers' fortunes on the park in the coming years.

Those big-ticket items must be deliberated over by a new regime. Too many mistakes have been made, too much money has been spent and too much scar tissue has been accumulated over recent years for the majority of the current incumbents to remain involved. Their heart and their wallets were always in the right place and it would be churl('') and George Taylor (10.22 per cent), while Stuart Gibson and John Bennett, the largest lender at present, hold around nine per cent and seven per cent respectively. Two directors on the RIFC plc board, Halsted and Wolhardt, control 6.69 per cent and six percent.

Discussions between the consortium and interested sellers would not have reached this stage had commitments not been given that stakes were up for grabs. That does not necessarily mean that every deal must be for the full shareholding.

The bill for that undertaking – on the assumption that shares were sold for the current going rate of 20p – would be in the region of £100million. When the 49ers Enterprises purchased their first stake in Leeds United in 2018, their first move was for 15 per cent control. That increased to 44 per cent three years later before a £170million deal was concluded in 2023.

Naturally, all parties will want to get the best deal for themselves. The American group will look to pay as little as possible to give them scope for investment into infrastructure projects and the football operation. The shareholders, on the other hand, will look to recoup a fair price for their stake given what they have put in over the years.

Those negotiations will continue in the coming weeks. If certain figures wish it to happen, it will happen. Gilligan outlined at the Annual General Meeting in December that Rangers would move away from the model of investors being directors. That process has now been accelerated.

The prospect of new owners with deep pockets will undoubtedly enthuse supporters that have been starved of silverware for too long. This is not a get quick rich scheme for those that buy or those that sell. It must be sustainable, it must be successful and it must be done for the right reasons for all concerned. It must Make Rangers Great Again.

They've just made another £38 mill. We will still be miles behind financially so don't think they will go into meltdown just yet.
