Ive been on the fence with Dessers due to the amount he misses but he is always good for a goal. His last 2 finishes (Man Utd and Dundee Utd) show he does have a talent though, its just frustrating its not there all the time. If he could start getting early goals in games rather than later in the matches I think the criticism and pressure would be off him more (Id like to see his stats / data for goal timing in matches) - but in general we do seem to leave our goals late this season.

Trouble with that is that maybe Koppen and co have looked and found that a guaranteed 20 goal a season striker who offers more than Dessers costs more than Dessers. Igamane did not come with a guarantee, he was a gamble which looks like paying off for us

Stats, schmats,  Dessers fails the eyesight test.

Now, the Norwegian striker, Erling Haaland, is often criticised for his general play, and work around the paddock, but excused because 'he scores goals'. 

Here is a stat: In the five seasons before he joined, the team scored an average of 97 goals/ season. In two full seasons with Haaland, they average 95 goals.

No signing is a guarantee. We must gamble given our finances. Koppen & co have shown signs of good luck lately when it comes to gambling,

But if you want to get rid of our top scorer in January, you need a near guarantee you can improve the squad - Koppen cannot give that. Sell him in the summer instead.

Can you guarantee we will be able to sell him in the summer? And for as much as we get offered now? Its just kicking the can down the road IMO. The problem of replacing is the same.

And I think this is what gets missed.  If we got say £4m for him, last season that wouldn't have bought you Shankland.
