I am amazed at the marmite reaction to Dessers, and to justify that below are the EssPL stats on him and Igamane. He clearly takes more of his chances than Hamza, a player most all bluenoses rate highly.

But how many times does Dessers get into great shooting chances but not get a shot away, at least twice today for example, whereas Hamza tries to shoot far more often.
Stats can be produced to favour anything just about, but almost all Rangers fans that watch him play can see that Dessers is absolutely gash.

I'm not saying the guy is a top Rangers striker, but he is far from the worst we have had at the club. What I meant by my post was he draws marmite reaction for the support. He scored three goals and got an assist today and some only remember the missed chances.

Just now, Devil's advocaat said:

He's clearly not gash, he's a modern day Bo Andersen, our Darwin Nunez if you like, a loveable, hard working talented player, everyone wants him to do well, really wants it, but....

He's just not what we need.

Of the 3 strikers we have at our disposal, he's the one who'll get the most goals and be fit to feature in games.

The clamour to get rid of him is weird, we'd rather keep Danilo who isn't as prolific or available as Dessers.

If Danilo remains injured, we aren't moving Dessers on as we can't finish the season with 1 fit striker after starting the season with 1 fit striker.

The fee we paid for Dessers and his wages (neither his fault) put fans off him as much as the made up nonsense that he's "gash".

He'll score goals (our top scorer last season and now this season thus far) and divide fans until the day he leaves.

Sure there are moments of madness when you scream at the TV when he missed the Sitter in which Ross was offside, As Scott Arfield said 25,000 fans love him and 25,000 fans don’t. I love him sparingly when he is calm and composed but also the fact if you actually look at the technical aspect of some of his goals he is looking for the perfect goal in which strikers like Dessers will f%&k up 80 % of great chances but those other times he’s there with the ball in the back of the net. He may not be a clinical first touch scorer but he is indeed a scorer who scored a lot of goals for us last season and continues to do so this season , I honestly think it’s a pity PC doesn’t have Igamane or Danilo playing in rotation with Dessers rather than the one up. Dessers work rate is top notch no denying he works his socks off looking for lost causes and sometimes it pays off and sometimes it doesn’t, I think Tav giving Dessers the Captaincy was a statement to just how hard he works for us , Also the way our finances are going and the way young Igamane is playing we need to indeed accept Dessers is better than Danilo in goal terms and who also isn’t as injury prone. So even though it is indeed Marmite I strongly urge we  back him as the last thing we need is a striker who works his socks off to lose his confidence in fans not supporting him.

Has there ever been a greater repudiation of the use of statistics?

I'd love to see him doing more of what he did at his first goal yesterday, using his size and strength to get an acre of space to finish, but he rarely does this. I look forward to both him and Danilo leaving, and being replaced with younger, hungrier versions.
