Clement: Stick or Twist?

I swing between both answers.  

 

On the one hand we can't keep changing managers and expecting to develop consistency. 

 

On the other hand, results aren't good enough and fan sentiment seems to have got to the point of no return.

The longest serving manager in the Scottish top flight is Derek McInness, he's been in his post for 3 years and 4 days. He's currently the only manager who has served more than 3 years in their job. Indeed only 2 managers, McInness and Robinson at St Mirren, have been in their jobs for more than 2 years, every other manager has spent less than 2 years in their job. The desire for instant success isn't just reserved for Rangers supporters. 

 

Willie Waddell never won a league title as Rangers manager, his successor, Jock Wallace, took 3 seasons to win his first. We live in different times now, Rangers managers were given time back then, a chance to build something, to fail, but learn and come back stronger. We gave Gerrard time, he made progress, but came up short twice, but we stuck by him and it paid off. 

 

As frustrating as last night, and many times this season, have been, I'm not convinced the answer is to rip it up and start again. At times we've been brilliant this season, at times we've been dire. Our domestic away form is very poor, unacceptably poor, we should be much closer to Celtic than we are. The manager deserves criticism for that. 

 

Personally, I'm giving him this season, despite results. I do think he's building something, I do think the basis of a good side is there. The thought of firing Clement, and all his backroom team, and then appointing someone else to manage players he didn't sign and with a very limited budget to change that depresses me. We've tried that already.

I heard someone in the bookies earlier saying he had a pop at Igamane after the game in the herald newspaper which I don't read that's usually a sign of losing the plot

I wish he would. Old School. 

 

I just watched "Sir Alex" documentary and there was a clip from him saying "theres nothing wrong with losing your temper" - that is what is lacking these days.

He did have a pop at Igamane in his post match comments. To be fair to Clement, it's not the 1st time he's singled player(s) out. Not saying it's right, just saying he's done it before.

I don't think sacking PC means 'starting again'. That's the purpose of having a DoF or Director of Recruitment; they take on the burden of recruitment and the player trading model. 

 

We're looking for a coach that can work with what we have, not a manager to come in and rip apart everything.

Just got notification that Rangers are advertising a managers role on  their socials. Got very excited, but turns out its a Marketing Manager. Acht well.....

I don't think the manager has any respect from the fans I can see crowds dropping away and the boo boys giving him hell when we mess up i  think he's in for a torrid time from now until he goes that's the way things go the fans are paying good money and in my book they are well entitled to give him and his team the boos might even see a banner asking him to go were not known for our patience at Ibrox
