The club, the board and the future

"Changing a manager is not a silver bullet solution". Yes we know that well, Patrick.

However, nor is implementing the findings from an external review to ensure the club is run better and doesn't need to be underpinned by shareholder loans... but at least it's a start, a move in the right direction given the shambles we find ourselves in. I would expect we will see our annual losses decrease, even break even, accompanied by a fanfare of trumpets.

Anyway, let's say the club find a way to become more financially sustainable, let's say that takes 2 years, and in that time we consistently still lag behind our rivals, then we change the manager? How long does he (or she) get if we don't win a title in that time? 3 years? Then the next manager? Will we move from sacking managers for failure every year to 18 months, to every 2-3 years?

Okay, okay one step at a time. Financial stability first, then some profit, player trading improves, more profit. We are out of the woods. Meanwhile, in the east, they continue to bank CL cash, more transfer cash, more commercial and season ticket revenue. Wouldn't we still be relying on them having an awful season to be able to compete? But they don't. Are we back to needing to find that silver bullet with a new manager?

Glass half empty, I know, but I don't hold out much hope for our plans. A better plan would be for every fan to don thawbs at matches from now on until it catches the attention of some Saudi Prince. Inshallah.

If results don't improve, obviously I can't give Philippe any cast iron guarantees."

Indeed, that's a given. He'll be given next season for sure. So that's what I mean, we'll move away from one season mangers to two season managers. What's the difference - little less compensation maybe?

That's not specified in the quote.

If he loses several more games he'll be sacked pronto.

He's only in charge now because there are wider issues. If we had a better squad and were more financially stable he'd be sacked already.

It's about looking at the circumstances logically and to not get carried away with emotional decisions.

What Patrick Stewart said yesterday WRT Clement was far from a comprehensive backing for the manager.

He basically sat on the fence between the sensible and the hard of thinking opinions.

This is a strange situation. As you allude to, there are other issues that currently trump the question of football team manager.

However, the hard of thinking or those with different, more short term priorities may push this to breaking point.

The bottom line is that we need to change the way we operate and wean ourselves off the addiction of losing money, year after year.

Until that happens, no matter how much you shout about 'we are a club that should win games every week/trophies', we'll remain the Espanyol of Scotland.

Those being labelled "hard of thinking" and having "short term priorities" are the single biggest investors the club has.

I've heard said that without the board, we wouldn't have a club. The same can be said of those "hard of thinking" short-term priority people". Without "them", there is no club.

Those advocating sacking the manager are not hard of thinking or looking short term. They have witnessed the current manager fall 18 points behind this season from  position of being favourite to win the league last season l.

On Thursday evening, we started the game with 9 of his signings playing (so there goes the Beale excuse) and finished it with circa £30M of "talent" on the pitch.

The excuse of injuries is hard to swallow when Dundee had 10 player out injured and still manged a comfortable draw.

Our away form is horrific and getting worse, the manager takes full responsibility for that.

We are only 7 points clear of Aberdeen who haven't won a game in 10 attempts.

We are saying that in "normal" circumstances that Clement would be sacked, when in reality he should be sacked in any circumstance.

Hopefully Stewart will be true to his word and if results, especially away from home don't improve he'll do something that should have been  done weeks / months ago.

This post is specifically about the manager and nothing else.

Then you admit to misleading yourself by omission.

Thought I was on ignore .

Told you you'd be having a wee peak back and forth.

You were on ignore for a couple of days. I wanted to see if what the CEO said had altered your opinion somewhat.

I repeat, you are misleading yourself by omission by talking about the football and studiously ignoring the elephant in the room.

We can all see that the football situation is currently very inconsistent or simply, away domestic form is terrible.

No need to be insulting with your "hard of thinking" comments.
