I added Butland simply because he was a "free", so even an offer of £4-5M would be good business / profit. Edited January 6 by CammyF
buster. 5,404
In summary..... The club's priority is to sort the financial situation and not let it become an existential threat. At the moment, winning trophies takes a back seat. Not that we stop trying, of course. Reasonable chance of a Scottish Cup this season. The sooner that supporters realise that there isn't a quick fix, the better. John Bennett more or less said the same. Whilst he is partly responsible, he was also correct in what he said. Will be interesting to hear how Patrick Stewart sees things. Edited January 8 by buster.
compo 7,403
Best thing the board could do is call a press conference to announce that the club is for sale because I think the present board have tried they’re best but it’s not be good enough to turn things around .

Haven't we just brought in a new CEO and chairman to lead the way? And not exactly to "a sale", whatever this may mean. The borad does not own the club, the shareholders do ... well, the majority shareholders. IMHO, the world have football has changed radically during the last three decades, with TV and European money de facto destroying previous transfer models. Generating money via gate receipts, advertising etc. is dwarfed by TV and European revenue and if you don't get access to that, you are essentially done, if other clubs in your league get it. The case in Scotland is even worse, as only Celtic is getting tons of CL money for about a decade, even if they get humbled on the pitch. Same with their transfer dealings (not least with Southampton), but, like I noted above, our "star" players apparently never commanded any real interest even when at the top of their game ... and one cannot blame the board etc. for that. Add to this the fair-play rules (laughable as they are, if you look at seasons past and the EPL, France, Spain, and Italy), so no sugar daddy will come in and save the day. The real point of bother for me is not the board or the players we signed, but - you guessed it - that none of the managers we had since Warburton noted that the system they played (and the players used there) wasn't adequate for the Scottish game. All the credit they acquired in Europe evaporated where it mattered for your average Bluenose. That is where we toil and still do.

Don't think we can argue about the "ran the club better to support the managers" can we?

Rousseau 11,049
We also over-invested under SG trying to stop 10IAR. We don't have that option now.
