He's the leagues top scorer in 2024, if I were the coach I'd be looking at getting a system in place that complements this. If he can be top scorer playing in a system he's not suited to, one wonders what he'd do playing in a system that does suit him.

We score more goals when Dessers doesn't play. That was based on every game played this season. 

 

I agree. He needs to play in a very specific system - he's only really a penalty box striker - to get the best out of him. As it stands at the moment we don't have a way of doing that. Saying that, I don't think it is right to build an entire side around one player - and that's not specific to Dessers. As a team we are better with Danilo and/or Igamane.

So the clamour from the majority of our fans for a 20+ goalscorer was a false narrative? 

 

You are correct regarding building a team around one player. 

 

We should be building a team that consistently wins games in a backwater league. Having a player who has scored 24 goals in a year would normally help, but in our case hinders??

 

We really are an anomaly under Clement.

I was only speaking for myself. 

 

Yes, because his overall play is detrimental to the team. He may score some goals, but when he does the rest of the team doesn't. That is just my opinion. 

 

We've been an anomaly under Clement, Beale and GvB.
