Mindset of Refs

Recommended Posts

Back in the eighties ,such was the influence of Aberdeen captain Willie Miller, he was once described at the time as one of 'Scotlands best referees'.

Fast forward forty years, and we now have Callum Macgregor ,who is right up there with Miller.

It's incredibly frustrating to see these consistent and impactful decisions go against us. The apologies and promises of 'better training' feel hollow after so many instances.
It's hard to escape the suspicion that there's a bias at play. When analyzing these decisions, it often feels like the safe option for the referee or VAR is to rule against Rangers, even if it's debatable.

The Dessers goal disallowed for offside, the Johnston handball, the Scottish Cup final incident – these are just a few examples where the decision seemed to favor Celtic.

While some calls may be subjective as said , I think the sheer volume of decisions going against us seems statistically improbable. The constant criticism from Celtic and the pressure they exert on officials could be contributing to this trend.

Our new CEO faces a daunting task in addressing this. A more robust approach to challenging these decisions and holding officials accountable may be necessary if that's even a thing, with Willie Gollum at the helm I doubt it.

I honestly  think the VAR booth is just a room full of monkeys throwing darts at a board labeled 'Rangers penalties, Freekicks against us.……

If I had a pound for every time VAR has screwed us over, I could probably buy the entire Scottish Premiership. I'd rather we face Messi each game than this Var shambles!

The VAR? More like VARseity! They're clearly our Old Firm rivals in disguise.

I said in the match thread, we should look to employ an ex-referee who would analyse these decisions and post on our social media.

They could begin with a dossier of incorrect decisions that have all gone against us and for Celtic over recent years.

They aren't hard to find and would make for some interesting viewing.

I think the issue with Sunday is that the decision isn't subjective, it's factual. No room for manoeuvre whilst trying to explain it away. Hence the false narratives of whistle being blown before Cerny is in the box.

The only flip side is Nottingham Forest tried this recently and it back fired and he quit rapidly.

Prior to the match last week I watched highlights of the 3-0 title win in 1999 when Albertz and McCann destroyed them, and the bravery of Hugh Dallas to get things right that day was unreal - you'd not see that in this day in age.

It took them a while to get revenge and we all know how that ended for him.

Very interesting to see the VAR ref that cost us the penalty in the final as now been given a Celtic game in his first game back after suspension. If this doesn't scream corruption then I don't know what does.
