CB was not an issue until very recently.

I’d argue it was also a. Issue 2 years ago when GvB was here. Bassey, Balogun & Katic left and we’re ‘replaced’ by Ben Davies & Souttar. When Souttar & Goldson got injured the roof more or less caved in

You're conflating quality and quantity.

We've not had quality for decades.

Quantity has not been an issue.

Kasanwirjo was a loan signing. He’s injured too.

Nsiasla doesn’t look like he’ll make it at Rangers

Kasanwirjo looked like he could / would contribute but most likely at RB. That would have helped now that Tav is injured.

Sterling has shown that whilst he's a decent player, he can't be replied upon due to injuries. File alongside Ridvan.

Any money we may have available this month may be best served going into investigating and fixing how we manage to pick up so many (muscle) injuries / knocks and why the rehabilitation takes so long.

Bassey wasn't / isn't quality?

Bassey, Katic and even Goldson were far better than any CB we have at present.

Now, we're they good enough for what is required? I'd say Bassey and Goldson were (Goldson just stayed too long).

Bassey was powerful and quick but flawed as a CB.

They're - not Katic - better than what we have now, but I don't think we've had a real quality CB since the Cuellar, Boumsong periods. I might have overlooked some.

Bassey was young, raw and a project that's why I would overlook the "flaws". He was one of the few "projects" we've handled / managed correctly.

Boomsong wasn't around long enough to really judge, but again, we managed that situation perfectly.

Cuellar was class, but he had David Weir as a partner. His performances on the run to Manchester were 1st class (as we're Goldson / Bassey on road to EL final).

We will be unable to attract players of that class unless we fall over / unearth another Bassey.
