I think its debateable, but you put forward a good point. We paid less or similar for Igamane and Jefte who were both in contract and much better players.

Therefore the behaviour being incentivised here is to go with cheaper foreign talent.

Wasn't the Igamane fee circa £2M depending in add-ons?

£2M is the fee I remember being banded about when he signed. Hopefully £700K is the real figure.

Who knows really. Our club like to obfuscate fees spent and brought in for whatever reason.

The point I was trying to make was that there is more value in young foreign talent than in the SPFL.

That means development money as high as a normal transfer? Are there similar cases and sums in Scotland?

Not sure about similar cases, but this is just plain madness. Yes, clubs might be due a development fee, but here it is just another sad attempt of squeezing money out of us. Nearly 700k is just a full transfer fee anywhere else at this level. Do that in turn to them with our youngsters, and they go ballistic. That said, we have a knack of simply freeing our players before they sign for anyone else ...

Aberdeen have published the precise numbers regarding the SPFL panel Connor Barron fee alongside their IMO valid complaints directed at the system.

Immediate fee: £639,920

Potential add-ons: £250,000

Sell on clause: 10%

Would that be 10% of £639920 or 10% of the sell on fee
