My understanding was that once Hagi reached a certain number of games he was entitled to a wage increase. I believe he was on £21k p.w. but he waived the increase and was allowed to join the first team squad again. What I would say about Hagi is that he had more of an entitlement to his wages than some of the others on higher wages. At least he was in the first team starting XI & playing well. I genuinely hope he doesn’t leave. Replacing him with similar quality won’t come cheap. Sometimes you need to bite the bullet so to speak
Sutton_blows_goats 5,710 Posted Sunday at 12:22 Share Posted Sunday at 12:22 (edited) I’d be very surprised if Hagi can get a better contract than that anywhere else on a bosman. He has been good for us recently and I like him as a player but 20k+ for a guy who hardly got regular football before he came here and his flop season at Alaves makes it seem unlikely a team will pay out on him. I suppose it’s another example of how we just throw massive wages at players who haven’t done anything to deserve it. Trying to sell Dessers Dowell & Matondo told they can leave Hagi contract up Lawrence contract up Balogun contract up Cerny loan over Tav's time up? Thats a fair whack off the wage bill, plus, IF Igamane continues the way he's going, he'll be off, Raskin too! At least they should fund a decent few replacements though At least we get to listen to the "squad rebuild" spiel until November/December 2025 We'll have a problem filling the bench next season then IF Igamane and Raskin joined the above list especially with our injury record. Its one thing reducing the wage bill but if we cant afford signing fees we are relying on loans and freebies. Those two mentioned are very key to staying next season.

I want to build a squad with quality players not have an unending series of guest players.
Graeme Ro55 907 Posted Sunday at 13:35 Share Posted Sunday at 13:35 All of our players have a price, but I cannot see Big Phil allowing a firesale at the club when he is trying to bring a togetherness to the squad. He will want to have a realistic go at the title next season.
der Berliner 3,903 Posted Monday at 11:37 Author Share Posted Monday at 11:37 Turkish club Besiktas are showing interest in Rangers midfielder Tom Lawrence, who has just six months remaining on his contract at Ibrox. (Daily Mail) Besiktas want Tom Lawrence without paying a transfer fee, with new boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer having worked with the Rangers midfielder in the Manchester United reserve side. (Aksam Spor, external - in Turkish) Zurich sporting director Milos Malenovic suggests the path is clear for Nikola Katic to leave this month, with the defender touted for a possible return to Rangers. (Bluewin via Sunday Mail) Wycombe Wanderers are closing in on a deal to sign Alex Lowry from Rangers on a permanent deal, sources have told Football Insider. The 21-year-old is out of contract at Ibrox in the summer, with the January transfer window being the final chance for the Gers to cash in on the midfielder. Sam Grace’s side currently sit second in League One, with the club just two points behind Birmingham City. Burnley and Sheffield United are among the teams to have taken an interest in Rangers winger Tom Lawrence. This is according to a report from the Daily Mail, who have reported that there's plenty of interest in the Englishman Rangers could land Serbian midfielder Sasa Zdjelar on a ‘bargain’ fee with CSKA Moscow set to let the player leave Russia this January.
Popular Post der Berliner 3,903 Posted Monday at 11:44 Author Popular Post Share Posted Monday at 11:44 The whole Dessers witch-hunt is truly cringeworthy. He is not Ronaldo, he is not Kane, he is not Messi. If the same measures had been put on McCoist, or Hateley ever other season, they would have been hounded out in no-time. We don't score enough goals because of our "centre-forward" (note the singular), but because hardly anyone bar him and the penalty-god scores enough goals per season.

The fans did try to hound out McCoist and to a lesser extend Hateley. We all wanted a 20 goal a season striker and got one. Then some demanded a 20 goal a season striker, just not Dessers and started moving the "goal-posts" with silly statements about big games and scoring every OF game (something McCoist and Hateley failed to do). You'll, and / or he'll, never convince those who have written him off.
