Heard this earlier but presumably Porteous is valued a £3m or £4m whereas Dowell will be significantly less. We’d need to stump up quite a bit to get him

I believe Evans missed 10 games last season due to 2 x injuries. He's been fully fit this season, just not getting selected. 

 

Wages may be an issue, he's a Rangers fan and I wouldn't be against a short 6 month loan. 

 

But looks like Clement has ruled it out. 

 

Porteous is a strange one. Linked with us when he was with Hibs, now linked again.

All this talk about Evans at 37 possibly coming in as a short term loan reminds me of a certain Davie Weir who did likewise at the same age. It’s not very forward thinking or reducing squad age but sometimes these moves turn out to be astute.

There is also the argument that as we lower the age of the squad, an old head will be required. A calming influence. Basically another Balogun.

We need to be sure Evans is fit enough first of all. He has had injuries in the past

Difference is Weir had an excellent injury record. Wouldn't touch Evans with a bargepole.
