I'm normally against short-term loan signings but in this CB situation we are in now, maybe Kris Boyd's suggestion that we loan in Jonny Evans makes sense.

A 6 month loan to replace the injured Kasanwirjo should be viable.

Although any business may have to take into account the restrictions in our European squad numbers.

This is the perfect opportunity to bring in a 'project' style CB which would be similar to Igamane in that the view would be to them being a 1st choice player in 6 months or so, that way we have them ready for next season as, lets be honest, theres not really much to play for this season now. They also have the opportunity to come into the team and settle at the club while we're not in a neck and neck title race and every mistake would be hounded.

Short term fixes tend to be expensive and go against what the club is looking to do with cost cutting and leave us in the same position in the summer when they return to their club. Obviously with injuries coming back, thats mitigated a bit but come the summer....

Kasanwirjo will likely be returning to Feyenord

I would be surprised if Balogun gets an extension

Souttar will be going into the final 12 months of his contract so might be looking to sell

Dujon Sterling is not a CB and is made of glass

Propper will be our only remaining CB

So to focus on a 6 month fix on loan, like Johnny Evans, would be incredibly shortsighted and would leave us more work in the summer.

I have nothing against a 6 month loan as such, just think it would need to be a project style player with a purchase option in the summer.

Ben Davies is having a very good season at Birmingham, going by the stats. I don't think we have a recall-option though. Maybe we can press City in signing him right now? 😎

No Olympique Marseille defender either ...

"Bamo Meite was not on the bench because of a foot problem. Meite was injured yesterday too. It's fairly serious. It could be weeks before he returns."

... we're getting bombarded with rumour trash these days, hence I'll wait a day or two before anything hits the OP.

BTW, as with Barisic, Morelos, or Kent, wanting players out also requires clubs wanting to pay up. It essentially beggars belief that we apparently did not receive any bid for the aforementioned or our goal-machine über-rightback Tavernier. And the same will hold true for Dessers, Dowell, Lawrence, Matondo, Cortes or anyone else on the Bears' chop-menue.

We would do well to keep our hands on Igamane, who might get us a cup and some EL sunshine, before letting him go the E-Promised-Land for 15m or the like. It is what it is. The only thing I would like to ask the manager is: why didn't you deem this goal-machine not fit for 20 to 40 mins earlier in the season, when we were toiling and throwing the campaign away? That said, our med department seems to have a knack of waving transfers through ... and it takes about a week or a month for these players to suffer this or that month-long injury. Since our return, we've been ravaged by this more than the entire 3 decades beforehand. (That's why I also would like to sign a few John-Brown-Richard-Gough like hardmen, even if their football expertise is not up with Amoruso or the like.)

Richard Gough was SO much more than a "hardman".

Not much transfer business being done anywhere.

IF memory serves there was usually a fair bit of business done in the first few days then generally quiet until the last couple of days.

It isn't just Rangers who have to watch the pennies.
