He also wasted quite a bit on absolute mince crocks like Matondo, Ben Davies & Ridvan. Massive contracts for Goldson, Tav and Lawrence. Was happy to let McGregor be #1 for another season after realising the obvious that Jon McLaughlin was miles off it.

He got sacked because he was miles off it. The football was slow and turgid. He had no idea how to beat the low block park the bus which is out bread and butter.

We quite rightly praise him for the Europa run, but lets not forget how bad some of those performances v them were outwith the Cup Semi.

Agreed and the same can be said about Clement to an extent (Cortes as an example).

Rangersrab stated that there may be a reluctance to sack Clement due to him getting results and therefore much needed income in Europe.

There is a valid argument in that opinion, but all I did was point out it didn't save Gio who generated more income (via European results) than any manager since Walter Smith.

I don't recall Sebo being a cult hero, any hero status was a bit of a piss take, he was shite. Shankland is a reasonable SPFL level striker who takes Kris Boyd-esque levels of time to get fit after injury, so one we should avoid.

An assist and a double for Igamane is superb to see, he's a long way to go yet, but at least (along with Danilo looking decent recently) the big dunky up front has some competition.

Edit - and we need to be signing Cerny permanently IMO.

Well you have a short memory.

Delighted with last night's result but have to admit I don't think I've ever shouted at the TV more about keeping the ball when being 3-0 up as I did last night. An incredibly open game, full of passing errors but cannot fault the effort and fitness of the players throughout.

We really did get in the faces of the Nice side and, like Olympiacos the other week, they allowed us into their heads and we looked dangerous every time we countered. We must take that attitude into domestic games along with finding further improvement on the ball.

Finally, Nice were poor (oh boy did BBC Shortbread repeat that) and yes they had some injuries but we're told that's not an excuse for us recently so it was very much job done by us and very much a result to be proud of.

I’d suggest though that looking back in hindsight the Rangers board regret the GvB sacking then throwing 10’s of millions to a rookie like Beale

And I'd agree with that 100%

I feared the worst when the Referee went to the screen for the penalty decision as I hadn't realised he'd given the penalty "on-field". Fair play to the officials for (eventually) getting the correct 3 decisions 😀

That was news to me aswell, I thought he was call over. Correct decision though.

Yeah, I didn't know he'd given the penalty either as, due to a late work meeting, I was watching the game in the Cask and Barrel (Broughton, Edinburgh). Pub was busy and was showing all the UK based EL games but I was the only bear in there so minding my Ps and Qs... ;)

"Physically overwhelmed, technically struggling and mentally at half-mast, even if they managed to save their honor, Franck Haise's men, who could have been punished more severely as they conceded so many opportunities, really spent a dirty evening."

I'll second that with Cammy. Not getting a full season was criminal. He was on a total bad patch that nobody will deny that but its been backwards since.
