I thought he spoke pretty well. Interviews like that are never going to be highly successful. The trick is to avoid ridicule and he managed that.

Started off with the usual soundbites which is fine, you wouldn't expect anything else (fans, tradition, goosebumps etc).

 

Like his use of the phrase "cautiously optimistic" when it came to recent performances.

 

Willing to engage with the fans is also a positive, then back to the closing soundbites (again, nothing overly concerning there).

 

He has a tough task ahead of him and his handling and how tenacious he is seeking an explanation and reasoning behind Sunday's non-penalty will go a long way in showing us if he really us up for the massive challenges that await him.

Talked a lot about the football and very little beyond that.

 

Talked of "strong foundations", where does he get that from?  He needs to oversee the implementation of them.

 

He made no mention of financial challenges, the elephant in the room.

 

First impression (subject to change depending on actions) is that he hasn't got what we need.

FFS. The guy has been in the door less than 2 days and will still be in the early stages of his information gathering, and has also been dealing with the SFA on the VAR issue and you expect him to have something of substance and can already form an opinion that he hasn't got what we need?

It doesn't really matter what he says to be honest. The job he does is all that matters.
