[Official] Nils Koppen appointed Technical Director

So other than being Head of Scouting / Director of Recruitment for us, what relevant experience does he have for this role? 

 

From scout to Technical Director in under 12 months.

Had he said less I would have felt better about it. "Sign the best out of Scotland," is a comment I find very worrying. Who is he refering to. There are no players at non old firm teams with anywhere near the quality to be winning Rangers players imo.

On behalf of everybody at gersnet I would like to congratulate Mister Koppen and wish him the very best of luck in his new role.

 

I hope that Mister Koppen will understand that this role is to be a scapegoat for every dropped point from now until his inevitable departure.

I recall folk saying that about Souttar and Barron, and I feel they've both proven that they may have what it takes to be talked about for years to come. History is littered with players who had to actually come here to grow and be the players they needed to be.

Was he not already doing this role, just without the title? Is this simply confirming a title for a job he's been doing for a few months? Others will know better but I got the impression Koppen has been quite important inside the club in recent months.

No issues unless we are exclusively shopping in the Scottish market.

Won't be long until Barry Ferguson is back as player/captain/manager and CEO.

 

I realise that this isn't fair or scientific but I look at Koppen and he doesn't inspire confidence or even, look the part.

I've been quite happy with Koppen's performance: I like his ideas and his recruitment has been good - not perfect, but it has been noticeably better. I'm disappointed in the criticism directed his way. 

 

My issue is the lazy merging of roles. 

 

NK was appointed Director of Recruitment, which is his background; let him do that. And, maybe when he's had a few years experience then he can make the step up. 

 

Appoint a proper Director of Football (or Technical Director).
