we will never know if these lads are any good if we don't find a place for them in the starting eleven

Correct. What better time than now? Rangers aren’t winning the League this season. Nothing to lose. That’s how Durrant and Derek Ferguson came through.

In isolation, that's true, but we've been poor all season. Europe can be taken into consideration yesterday, but not for all our poor performances.

I don't disagree that we have been generally poor this season, but it isn't a surprise.

We were highly likely to struggle this season.

What has been a surprise is Aberdeen, but we'll see what the table looks like after 2 rounds of games (22).

Despite this, we are in a cup final and are doing ok in Europe. We aren't going to finish better than 2nd in the league.

With the injuries to the wingers and the lack of cover at centre forward, we were never going to break high scoring records.

For me, it is upstairs that deserves the pressure. Gilligan hasn't supported the manager as he said he would.

I agree that the pressure should be applied to those upstairs, for many things. However, Clement has been backed - circa £10M for Diomande and Cortes, £1.7M for Igamane, £2M for Propper.

We should never settle for "not challanging" domestically, we should be able beat "the rest" on a regular basis, no matter what "transition" we are in.

Clement picks the team (weirdly he chooses players he didn't sign more often than not), he sets out the structure, style, fitness, tactics etc. We are in perpetual decline, some may say terminal decline on and off  the pitch. Clement has to take blame for the on-field decline whilst Gilligan (et al) shoulder the blame for the off-field cluster-fcuk.

Do we know that these are players that he's signed or are they just players that signed since he took up his position?.

I'm sure not many managers actually identify and sign players now. If that's the case here, then none of them are his.

Either way, he appears not to rate them. He also said of Igamane that if we hadn't signed him this summer, we wouldn't have been able to afford him next.

Either he can't spot a player, or Koppen can't and is spinning Clement a yarn, as no way is Igamane going to be worth untold millions come June 2025.

Hos job is to coach the players (his or otherwise) and improve them. He's done the complete opposite.

Managers have always talked up players, Walter, Wee Dick, Souness, they all did it. Do you want him to say the boys shite Cammy?.

Igamane doesn't have to be worth untold millions for us to not be able to afford him next season. I'd say about 50 bob should cover it.

No I don't, but to say we wouldn't be able to afford him next season was a ridiculous thing to say.

The guy is raw, has something about him but, in my opinion, at £1.7M, a gamble we shouldn't have taken in the summer.

That money would have been better spent on a player (striker) who was experienced and ready to contribute from the start of the season.

I remember Beale getting rightly slaughtered for say something similar about Cifuentes.

Cifuentes was an odd one, his first game - if I recall correctly - was against PSV in CL qualifiers, and he looked really like he had something. After that he just looked like a little boy lost every time I saw him.

I don't think identifying players from other continents, never mind other countries, and then developing them as their potential suggest, is an easy game. We're in a unique position that the fans demand success, we don't have the budget to make that happen quickly, nor do we have the time to develop anything long term. It's a head fuck indeed.

Speaking about Derek Ferguson , I just seen an article about his son Lewis and one of his biggest hurts in football is being released by Rangers at 14 that gives him extra motivation to improve his game. I’m sad to say I think this is going to keep on happening time and time again ,I say we just give youngsters Curtis & others game time at least 10 mins when we are comfortably winning if that’s even a thing now. How many of Rangers youngsters have made it through the years to the team or how many have we let go who have gone on to have a successful career away from Ibrox?

Well put. Fans need to understand this and temper expectations, short to medium term.

Will they ?

I doubt it and the general direction of travel will be towards no-where.

Fans can shout all they want about expectations but they need to listen to what John Bennett said in the summer and read the accounts.
