That's why you throw them in for the last 10 to 15 mins. We did it with McKinnon, Devine, Lovelace and others. Or Patterson. Other teams throw them in out of necessity and they rise to become a Barron or Gilmour. Unless we blood these people, we'll never know. But that's a Rangers' plight for many a year.

Either you do that or you loan them out to somewhere they will play regularly. King is a good example, he stuck around for a few years was hardly used and has stagnated. He was really highly rated a few years back. He is 20 now and nowhere near the first team.

The last successful loans I can remember were Alan McGregor and Charlie Adam.

That's why getting them playing in a competitive league structure is so important.

Didn’t really matter. Both were outstanding in different ways.

Oh they certainly were but we will never know if these lads are any good if we don't find a place for them in the starting eleven he the manager whom i'm convinced is working his ticket to be home before Christmas keeps with the same old faces nearly every week it's got to the stage were i  watching any other match if available i have got fed up watching this turgid football

Yesterday, there was Hagi on the bench, Dowell too ... and both are ahead of Diomande in my "modern-day No.10 slot". You just hope he doesn't become another Aribo. We might just as well put Igamane or Danilo in his place, as they could have done all his pressing work too, and would have grabbed the ball and run for goal, not look for a deft short pass or the next player in an even better position than himself. Nothing against Diomande, but please not in that role. Almost more frustrating was Clement's lack of changes ... and, IMHO, inability to spot the dysfunctional No- 10 role. But he "lost" it for me a week or so ago, after he replied to the question about the need to change systems: !that needs time to implement!"

Can't disagree with most of that, but we are now in a situation where fans decided to boo when the manager made the correct decision (to replace Barron).

Barron was struggling and when replaced, we regained a little composure and control of the game.

Just read Hearts completed the most passes they've ever managed at Ibrox yesterday.

Don't know what that means (lack of press, willingness to allow Hearts to pass in certain areas, good marking so they had to ho back/side ways)????

I thought their manager tweaked things well at HT.   They were pressing us higher up the park, which in turn meant we struggled to play out from the back in the same way, particularly compared to the first half.   Without Raskin and Barron pushing back and looking to regain the ball, we would have struggled even more.  We were pretty scrappy with the ball throughout, particularly in the forward areas where we had too many poor touches/passes.  All contributed to the possession Hearts had in my view

The team sitting quite rightly second bottom of the league too, makes that stat even worse .

One of my best mates is a Hearts fan and speaking to him after 1st game of the season, I said both Hearts and us looked very unconvincing and that both them and us would struggle this season.

Spoke to him again last night and said neither of us have improved from that opening fixture at Tynecastle.

Two very poor teams yesterday as they were in the opening game of the season.

We obviously aren't great. Hearts neither, but they have started to improve of late.

That said, you can't ignore the fact that both teams were coming of the back of Thursday night European football.

In isolation, that's true, but we've been poor all season. Europe can be taken into consideration yesterday, but not for all our poor performances.
