[FT] Motherwell 1 - 2 Rangers (Dessers 40; Bajrami 81)

Recommended Posts

I thought we'd go up to Aberdeen and put on a European type performance and get the win when our backs were against the wall, but no.

The performance suggested that something is rotten in Denmark.

The players, or at least a good few, aren't interested enough and our squad is so light, that there isn't much competition for places.

Despite the squad changing over time, the same general traits remain.

- Positive response to new manager followed by cr@p.

- Motivated on a Thursday, not so much at a weekend.

- Don't respond well to pressure.

Doing the same thing as a club, will probably mean more of the same. Especially when the downward spiral includes having a decreasing budget.

No predictions from me for today.

A defeat today would serve two purposes;

1. Avoid another annihilation from them.

2. See Clement removed from his post.

I'd never go into any game, never mind a semi-final wanting Rangers to lose, but have to say its tempting today.

Mon the Well, sorry Rangers.

I doubt Struth would be considering administration, Mike Ashley, Champions League money, Scotland turning into a republican cesspit, our captain being terrified of matches at the Piggery or wasting millions on players like Dessers and Lammers when he made that statement.

Football is a different game these days.  Of course, things can change fast but we're way off them, in terms of finances and squad at the moment.  Have you seen our record against them since Gerrard f*cked off?

You have to give the younger lads hope

Mon the Well, sorry Rangers.

1. Reduce revenue

2. Increase expenditure

How attractive is our current situation/ expectation/January transfer window budget black hole to a decent manager?

St.Mirren CEO candidate knocked us back. We ain't an attractive proposition at any level, unless you are desperate for a job or get a financial offer that we currently don't have.

Maybe sell before we buy.

We raised 810,000 in the last window through 5 sales (Lammers, Goldson, Cantwell, Wright and McCrorie) and 4 loans.

Player trading at its finest. Other clubs know our situation and take the piss

I don't think it's motivation. I have always though that a big part of the dichotomy is the tactical context of a European game compared to a domestic one.

I hadn't thought of the pressure issue, though. The European game is the 'bigger' game on paper but it probably doesn't have the same level of pressure, as there's only so much we can do in Europe. Domestic games are all 'must-win.'

There's always hope but statements made over half a century ago won't change anything.

If we get to the final anything can happen in a one off game we've seen it many times in the past

Blasphemy!

Probably, aye but it's time for folk to step into reality and not put their faith in things Struth, Greig, Smith or Marvin Andrews said.

I don't think we'll sack Clement if we lose today but I'm starting to think he's not suitable for the job.  And as long as we're starting matches with Dessers, Lawrence and Tavernier, we won't be winning anything.  These players simply aren't good enough to play for Rangers.
