der Berliner 3,744
The mess we were and are in are not made on the business part of things. We are where we are money-wise, we knew and we know it. What failed us time and again, under SG, Gio, Beale and now Clement, is sticking to a system that is not made for the Scottish game - unless you have the players to play it. And even if we had them, it would have been difficult. For this system to be successful, you have to have two fullbacks playing the winger part, and two attackers either side of the central striker who supply assists and contribute with goals. We fell into the Morelos trap, as we essentially geared much of our game to assist him. As soon as he dropped out of form, we toiled. Now everyone looks at Dessers or Colak or whomever to become the new Morelos- or Negri-like saviour, instead of playing two strikers, two wingers, and just one DM. Most modern DMs can play football as well, i.e. if space opens up, attack. Throughout the years we had too many midfielders on the pitch who are not goalscorers, so they 7 out of 10 times passed the ball on from a good position rather than shoot. We still see this today. Coming to think of it, I'd give Kris Boyd the reigns to see whether he would finally approach an aggressive attacking style (every now and then) instead of a de facto "6-man defensive line-up with the 'potential' to attack". Against dross like St. Johnstone, Dundee, or the like. I'm so sick and tired of this tactical formation, which has proven to be pointless in Scotland ... It was obviously a sarcastic joke, but even the most inept board-member can see that the football we play is not made for Scotland. So any newcomer, and I assume a loss on Sunday will see changes being made, should be questioned whether he's willing and able to change our current style of play.

Gonzo79 15,292
I doubt they'll sack Clement if we lose on Sunday. I think we'll see changes at the top before Clement goes.

Changes? We've nobody at the top to change! But you're right, we need the vacant roles filled before we sack Clement.
Gribz 850
I just want to see something different from a 4-2-3-1. Having a trio in the midfield of Diomande, Barron and Raskin would mean we should control things better and then its up to the front 3 to turn that into goals. If not then perhaps a back 3. Being a Semi Final only means one thing though - getting through. Its time for Lawrence and Dessers to sit this one out though - regardless.

Dessers won't sit this out as there is simply no other option. Danilo is no where near fit enough and Igamane is ineffectual when starting games (Hibs and St Mirren - he was withdrawn). Lawrence is a strange one as he offers a goal threat but little else. With no credible wide left options, Bajrami will continue there and Lawrence will continue at 10 unless Hagi is thrown in. The lack of quality / options shows just how poor our squad is (with current injuries). Welcome to downsizing (note that Aberdeen had 5 attacking options on Wednesday).

Ive wanted Dessers to succeed but he fluffs too many chances. We mentioned Kent the other day, I think Im also realising how much quality Morelos actually had. But Id start Igamane tomorrow. Lawrence would be more suited to a 4-1-4-1 rather than being the sole No.10 (In some games we should only need one holding midfielder) but he may be dropping down the pecking order. Id have no issues with Hagi starting. Just seems Clement is scared to change things but he must be realising what he is doing now isnt working. After the Ross County game last season he himself has lost confidence.
