[FT] Motherwell 1 - 2 Rangers (Dessers 40; Bajrami 81)

It will be a tough game always seems to be against the steelmen we should be good enough to get to the final but I can see plenty of yellow cards on Sunday.

Manager on a hiding to nothing with this presser but nothing in here to suggest an understanding of why fans are so disappointed and what we do expect on a game-by-game basis. There remain too many questions about this transitional period and very few answers. Onto Sunday...

Nothing yet on player availability and I know I'm clutching at straws with this more pragmatic line-up but surely the manager has to offer something even slightly different on Sunday? No particular player came away from Pittodrie with credit so changes must be made.

I honestly can't see it.  More of the same, in all likelihood, unfortunately.

That would be a good starting point but they would need a run of four or five games together regardless of results or performances. Are we willing to accept that?

It seems that although the season was set aside for development, the club is still trying to compete. Can’t be done.

Likely team:

              Dessers

Bajrami Lawrence Cerny

      Diomande Raskin

Jefte Propper Souttar Tav

              Butland

A team which would show a willingness to try changes and punish underperformers, even if its in the same formation:

                                Igamane

Option 1 -   Bajrami    Dio    Cerny

Option 2 -  Lovelace Bajrami Cerny

                           Raskin  Barron/Dio

            Jefte Kasanwirjo Souttar Sterling

                                 Butland

Clement makes a point of mentioning 2012 again. Apparently it comes from the meeting he had with the full board in June.

It was used to emphasis the need to change direction (financially) as in we don't want to go bankrupt again.

The condition/direction of our finances were viewed as potentially existential in that meeting.

John Bennett would have been part of that discussion and you wonder if he might have been PC's biggest defender.

There was a defensive steeliness about Clement today. Lets see what he comes up with on Sunday.

I think the problem is that when the manager has changed things up, it hasn't worked and he's had to change it at halftime (Sunday and Wednesday are prime examples).

This leads to the notion that whilst the starting 11 aren't great, we have very little depth to the squad.

Given that, a change of formation may be the way forward. Get Dessers and Igamane in a 4-4-2 with Cerny and Bajrami wide / playing in and around the front 2.

Current Motherwell will be looking at this game 99.9% sure how we will set-up and what our starting 11 will be and will play their game around this.

The manager has nothing to lose, he's a dead man walking in the eyes of a growing number of fans.

He needs to do something different and do it soon, for all our sakes and sanity 😃
