So why did Gilligan update us previously?

How would "progress is going well in our pursuit to fill the 4 critical roles within the club. We are interviewing suitable candidates and hope to have an announcement soon.", harm the recruitment process?

As for taking time, how long have these roles been open and what would be a suitable time frame for filling them?

You do know that once these roles have been filled it takes pressure of the board? You'd think they would have this as number one priority, which is what we were told it would be once we were back at Ibrox. When was that again? Last week?

Given the last potential CEO allegedly backed out due to his family getting unwarranted attention, it may be that they've decided to not say anything until the guy is in place. Obviously they could make a holding announcement but that could cause more problems than it solves, depending in the progress that they're making.

So, from a common sense perspective, it might be best for the board to keep things under wraps until someone is officially appointed.

So we're guessing why he backed out?

A holding statement would be best - we eventually did it with Ibrox redevelopment and it immediately took the pressure of the board.

A generic statement with no names has a very low risk of putting a candidate off or I  the spotlight, in fact it would be impossible for the candidates to be identified unless the board leaked it.

Hold on a minute.

If we never offered anyone the job, never mind them refusing it (according to you), how could someone back out for whatever reason?

If club have openly discussed the (non)progress of the recruitment for Bisgroves replacement both before and after Gilligan returning, why shouldn't they continue to update us?

Any pressure applied to a candidate and / orntheir family is wrong and should be called out, but are you naive enough to think once someone has accepted the job, this external pressure will magically disappear / not happen? And would only happen to them BEFORE they accept the job?

They don't have to give us names, interview dates, copies of the candidates CVs, a simple progression update is all that is required.

As it stands, it appears that no progress is being made. Maybe that's the issue, like the delays in Ibrox redevelopment, the board will get caught " bending the truth" about progress or lack off.

Fan media did get a little vague snippet late last week / early this week, so we have to assume that came directly from the club so they are "talking" to some fans.

What pressure do the board face just now?

Some people sobbing about it online does not make any difference to them.

Reducing losses, recruiting staff, being 9 points behind in the league, cutting wages, up coming AGM, keeping the lights on.

That should be enough to keep them up at night.
