I don't disagree with any of that.

I just think it's a bit unfair to put all the blame on the manager.

I think he wanted a 6 and more forwards, but for whatever reason we couldn't get the deals done. I don't think he would have wanted to go into the season with just Dessers (he even wanted him sold, if we are to believe the rumours, so must have expected a replacement). Sometimes deals don't work out.

That's not to say he doesn't share some of the responsibility, though.

I blame him more for not getting more out of what he has.

I agree he should be getting more out of what he has at his disposal, it's one of the first things he said he'd do when he signed.

To be fair to him, initially he did as I think we all will agree. Said previously his best result and performance was achieved with a team including Tav, Barisic, Davies, Cifuentes, Lammers, Dessers, Goldson and Roofe.

However, after getting to top of the league something happened. He tweaked the way we were playing and started to pick some questionable starting 11"s and it all fell apart.

We all hoped that once he got his own players on board this would change. It didn't. He started this season with the exact same players that ended last season (IIRC only Barron made the initial games).

Pre-season was a mess in terms of getting players over the line and the pre-season games threw up.as many red flags as Beales did rhe season before but most fans seemed happy to ignore them.

We are now nearing the end of October and we are still hearing ot will "click" and players are "new". Performances and results are shocking with no sign of them improving.

It's groundhog day, it happens season after season.

Add this to lack of leadership on and off the pitch, critical roles still not filled and growing rumours our financial state is worse than we are being told, its a worrying time to be a Rangers fan.

Firstly, the board are to blame for this current situation and have shown they are not fit for purpose. Their recruitment has been horrendous with arguably only SG and Bisgrove being successful.

We can spend days, weeks, months discussing the pro's and con's of Clement and Koppen but until we have the correct people running the club then this is just going to get worse.

Lawrence came back from injury and Clement decided to build the team around him during the run in last season and despite that failure still persists with him.

It really is that simple.

It reminds me of John Greig telling us he was building his team around John MacDonald and we know how that went.

We did, that's why I said it was a pity we couldn't tempt him back.

Koppen said it was down to money we decided against bringing him back. We are downsizing.

Quote

According to Koppen, the Ibrox club were committed in their pursuit of the attacker but couldn't bring Sima back to the club.

“The impression was that we weren’t going to go back for Sima, but that’s not the case,” he says.

“We made an effort to bring Sima back to Glasgow permanently with a good offer, a higher fee than the one we agreed for Oscar Cortes. We tried to convince the player and the agent but the numbers were unrealistic so we pushed back on it."

We have scored a total of 12 league goals this season, half of them in 1 game against Ross County.

Both Dundee teams have scored more goals than us.

From an xG of 13.9.

So we're even underperforming our xG, which is low to start with.

No wonder we aren't scoring much with Lawrence and Dessers starting at 9 and 10.  They're both pish.

Outwith Dessers and Lawrence, what other players have scored domestic goals for us this season?

They may be "pish" but at least they are contributing (and fit for selection)

The manager did sign a number 10 but plays him wide left.

He also signed a number 9 but deems him not worthy of starting games.

Seems the problems aren't really Dessers and Lawrence,  maybe the problem is we have no alternatives or the person selecting them, coaching them and giving them roles in the team?

Pre-match on Thursday ;

PC - Dessers and Lawrence you'se are starting today.

CD / TL - naw thanks Gaffer, that Gonzo chap thinks we"re pish, we'll sit this one out, start someone else.
