I don't think the manager rates him so I don't see him featuring except as a last minute substitution.

Sensible decision from both parties.

Player and agents obviously thought there would be more interest in the summer than transpired.

He is here until January(at least) so if we can have him play games and contribute its definitely a good idea.

I think he is a better player than Cerny or Dowell.

If we've got out of paying the fee to Gent, it's good.  I'd rather see him in the team than Dowell or Lawrence, although I doubt the manager agrees.

Thought if he played another game we had to pay Gent €1.5m or whatever it was?

I thought it was an increase in wages?

It appears they've negotiated a deal.

If the player is commited to the team and manager then it makes sense - if we've sorted out whatever the financial ramifications were then even better.

Let's be clear though - Hagi wanted a move this summer, u-turned and put out a statement when no good offers came in. The manager is doing him a big favour imo.

Having said that, we're looking at a 60 game seasons this season..we need all the bodies we can get. Preferably quality ones, it's still to be seen if Hagi is still the player he was when playing well for us about 3 years ago now.

As is, hopefully the lad can contribute domestically. Which he should, the teams by and large are pish.

I read somewhere that he would have got another £6k a week if he played another game. Signed under Beale, apparently.

I assume that clause has been removed or reduced.

I don't disagree, but at the very least it's another attacking body to use.

"A contract clause - which would reportedly have seen Hagi's wage increased due to the numbers of matches played - complicated the situation for the Romanian internationalist after he failed to leave the club in the summer."
