And the circus begins. There's no doubt Rangers needs change at boardroom level along with a CEO capable of making decisions but I'm far from convinced King (or the likes of Alastair Johnston for that matter) are the answer. Current board need to appoint credible people.

People like King, Bennett, the Park family and others all played key parts in rescuing the club 10 years ago but that doesn't mean they're the answer now. We're undergoing a rebuild on the park and the same needs to happen off it. Credible, independent recruitment a must.

Let’s all get behind Mr Gilligan maybe he will help in creating some investment into the club .

Whilst I take what King says with (more than) a pinch of salt, if he does have credible external investment lined up, I think I could tolerate a couple of years of him back at the helm.

As you rightly say, we need change and we need it now whether it's "forced" by King, or the current board start hiring the right people (or a combination of both - well we can dream of a functioning, committed board all pulling in the same direction).

I'm not sure he is the one to take us forward. I think we need some long term stability, King will come in with a flash of bluster, make changes, unsettle things then leave again.

If he gets involved I'm not sure it wont be with the overall aim of punting his own shares to whatever investors he claims to be able to bring in.

I don't want that kind of investment. Not in the form of random Arabs or Americans buying shares.  Investment through maximising commercial income, player trading, having a robust operating model yeah sure, bring it on.

King is definitely not the person to take us forward long-term but neither are the current incumbents (as they have shown).

Any external investment comes with an element of "risk" but there comes a point when we'll need to trust someone, and for me, that time is now.

Our club has been stagnant and is now regressing at an alarming rate. We either change or we become just another Hibs, Hearts or Aberdeen etc.

This is undeniable yes. Change is needed. What that looks like is what concerns me.

Just my opinion, but as soon as an American gets ownership of our club, the club ceases to be and only a franchise exists. I'd hate to be part of any city / red bull group type set up and Americans only care about one thing. The mighty $.

Sounds like you want us to play our way out of our problems.

I would like to see that.

If anybody thinks that's not possible then you have to wonder why they bother watching at all.

What we need is to become a viable business that doesn't spend around 10M more than it earns every year.

What we as fans have to accept is that the transition will come with a degree of pain and show the patience necessary.

What we need is vision, competence and cojones in those upstairs.

What looks like happening is more of what has been going on for decades.

I can't believe how easily we've fallen back into wanting this.

It's completely unsustainable.

I don't think anyone is advocating going back to this. However, to create a viable club, with the correct people in charge, with a working Youth Academy and player trading model, it requires investment.

An effective player trading model along with a more sensible wage policy is the way ahead. Youth academies don’t guarantee anything.
