What footballing people should they appoint to run the footballing dept? We’ve had two DoF’s the second of whom caused chaos. I do actually think we’ve got the football dept ok now with Pc & Kloppen

Our supporters need to decide if they wish to maintain the status quo & finish second or worse most of the time or accept outside investment to allow us to compete better. And I’m not suggesting foreign investment. There are people here who’d invest but they’d want influence at board level

What does outside investment mean ?

Back to (remaining in) the 'good old days' of spending more than we earn, perhaps?

How would that go down with the new FFP regulations?

Is there a queue of well intentioned extremely wealthy benefactors because I didn't see many of them in 2012.

Bennett is at least right in that we firstly have to become  viable and it will be painful.

Nope.

Restructured European leagues are designed to contain clubs at all levels.

The leagues haven't yet been designed but I get your point.

What I was getting at was access to better revenue streams. To eventually be reasonably competitive at the level we were shoehorned into.

At the moment, we aren't competitive in the SPFL.

Investment could be by a shares issue to allow an outsider to invest & increase their shareholding

Do the new FFP rules allow a club to cover losses in this way ?

It can take a good wee while for teams to implement a managers idea - it took Arteta and Klopp a few seasons and a few 100m to do so.

Yes this is something to think about as well but it looks like we will be more hoping for the Arteta revival than Klopps. With Klopp you could see what he was trying to do and it was a simple case of he needs a keeper and a centre half, once he got that they were top level. With Arteta they stumbled 8th twice then 5th, all of a sudden Saliba comes in the team and they clicked instantly and were a different animal that nobody saw coming.

With Clement its a bit of both. For him to even get us in a title race after coming into inherit Beale's mess was remarkable itself and people are probably overlooking this, but since the poor defeat at Ross County and draw at Dundee it seems we havent recovered and its continued into this season.

I still think we have a slight hangover from having to climb through the leagues again - and there are reasons for this out of our control like the money Celtic inherited but at the same time appointing Beale and backing him with funds and pretty much all the decision making set us back again.

"A slight hangover"

Its a wee bit more than that.

Bar the odd exceptional year, we haven't been able to live within our means for decades. Our main rivals have become the polar opposite.

It was the main reason behind the fall in 2012. Creatively, trying to lower outgoings.

In the age of FFP, we have to radically change our addiction of spending too much money, badly.

That's one way to look at it.

Anyone who pays any attention knows all about the FFP stuff.  The reason for this thread is that we look disjointed and lazy on the pitch - the basics aren't being done well enough.  Why is that - is it down to the players, the manager or a bit of both?

Mr thread polis,

Ever so sorry for developing the conversation into areas that you don't seem to approve of or in part, agree with.

I did directly address the topic in my first post. However, I didn't realise that the former freedom of speech warrior had appointed himself as thread polis.

Well, maybe I did because you have made a habit of it, every time I come back on here.
